Blessings all round, from the rain to the fruit to the canning jars, which can be filled and passed on as blessings to others as well…

Today was yet another gloriously stunning day! Days like this are gift from God. :love Mid 70s, clear as a bell, mild breeze, HUGE puffy white clouds sailing by like Heaven's ships every now and again, and sunny all day long except for a 15 min cloudburst in the middle of the day.

These are days made for working....or fishing, or swimming, picnics, hiking, biking and anything else that takes place outdoors. :D

But, for me, I love working best in these cool days, as the heat and humidity of summer really slows me down. Looks like we'll have good weather all this week and next week too, so I'm thanking God every step of the way as I try to keep runnin' on the many projects I'd like to get done before hot and humid steals my energy.

So many things to do and I praise God for it! Work like this is a pure blessing to me..work I love to do, work that you can see the results when you are done and work that has a good purpose.

This evening we sat and enjoyed the evening, talked about all the things we did and things we still have to do. The cats came for some affection, but got too demanding and had to be shooed away. They are shedding, so not a treat for them to be climbing all over us.

We walked through the garden and looked at all the things growing...I do believe this is my favorite garden year already. I've never had so many things growing so well here, so I think the BTE is finally paying off this year. By the time the garden is full of all the plants, I have a feeling it's going to be the most lovely garden I've ever grown in my life. And that's saying a lot.

No, the rows aren't straight like my Dad's always were...I LOVE seeing gardens with those super straight rows. I've never been able to do that, for some reason. But, this is going to be a lush and colorful garden this year and that's always been my goal...lush, good growth, beauty and no weeds. I want those gardens you see in all the pictures that are just so perfect...maybe this will be my year! :D

For now, that balmy breeze is drifting through my window, bringing honeysuckle along with it and I can hear the whippoorwills going strong out there. Should be able to see a lot of stars tonight, so I'll likely go out and star gaze a little this evening.

Oh...and I got to see 4 kittens under the cabin today! Three white kits and one tabby with white markings, all fat as ticks from Mama's milk. So lovely and such potential! Miss Molly is a great mother, a great hunter and will likely teach them some hunting skills before it's all said and done.

Another gorgeous day, another gift from the Lord! :love Ran pillar to post all day, got some GREAT buys on flowers and repurposing things from the Habitat store, for future projects.

Then came home to do some landscaping of flower beds. Planted a flat of annuals I got 30% off and also three perennials~Russian sage, lemon balm, thyme. Those went in the garden. Slowly but surely I'm filling in around the perimeter of the garden with perennial plants, both flower and food perennials.

Got to spend last night on a sleepover with my grandgirls...we had a cookout, got to get in the pool for a bit in the evening, and then got to play together even more this morning. Pure bliss!!!

Tomorrow will be another gorgeous day and I hope to work on construction projects such as trellises, garden gates, dog benches, etc. Getting company tomorrow, so have to make Mom's famous Coney Island hot dog sauce tomorrow morning and hope I can still get work done while they are here.

Sleepover with the angels! :celebrate

We just got a small rain shower while the sun was still shining....I LOVE those! So pretty, though there was no rainbow to be seen.

I was out on the porch to watch it and was noticing just how lovely all the flowers are blooming in that front flower bed...just stunning! My coreopsis is blooming!!!

And so is the butterfly bush....that thing astounds me! It's almost up to the eaves on the cabin, though just a few years ago it was only about 4 ft tall and barely would bloom...Mom was threatening to just cut it down. I relocated it two falls ago, put some composted horse and cow manure under it and it took off that following spring. Better than before but not like this year....this year it's a whole 'nother breed of cat.

It's HUGE and the blossoms are correspondingly huge as well...we have butterflies going cra-cra out there over those blooms and my heart is so glad over it!

I'll try to get a pic of it when more of the blooms come out...should be pretty!

God has surely blessed this growing year and that's the only explanation I have for all the blooming and growing around here...we sure haven't done much differently, so it's all God's glory out there and it feels and looks just like love!

I'm excited about tomorrow! Not only are we going to have a repeat of today's weather for the next three days~or so the weather station says~but we are having a "working" out here tomorrow and the next day. My eldest son and his little family~wife and my two grandgirls! :weee ~and my middle son are coming out to assist us in tearing down the old outhouse that's been standing here over 25 yrs now and with rebuilding a new one.

The old one is small, dark and when it rains hard the floor floods with water. The door sticks on the ground when it's opened too. It's sturdy enough still, as it was built by my Dad and things tend to stay built when he builds them, but it is showing signs of wear at the foundation from the flooding.

We don't use it often but when we do have to use it during periods of power outages, it's nice to use something that is pleasant...and this cramped, dark, brown house is not as pleasant as it could be. I'm thankful that we've had it available all these years but it's time for a change.

I'll take before and after pics so you can see the differences, but suffice to say that before it was a man's outhouse and after it's all painted and finished out, it will be a lady's outhouse. At least, one that ladies don't mind using. ;) Light and bright inside, functional without being froo-froo, and more attractive outside as well.

I'll be grilling some stuff and having a campfire in the yard tomorrow evening so we can admire the stars and enjoy the cool night air. If folks aren't too tired, we'll play some cards after that. They'll stay all night and finish up the build the day after. Can't wait!!!! :celebrate :weee :ya :woot

Our son works on construction jobs as a crane operator. So when he is between jobs, he drops out of the sky to visit for a couple of days. It was one of those when we moved-he trailered my horses up here, then helped us pack, move and unload. Lately, he showed up and helped us finish the fence, which was a God send.

Had a great garden breakfast today and it tasted so good I have to post about it...finally dug my new red spuds out of the compost and fried them. Added a young yellow squash, green pepper, a few of the sweet Candy onions from the garden, sweet corn and kielbasa.

Homemade bread and a few fresh eggs with that and it was food fit for a king! There's nothing so velvety in texture on the palate than those first young red potatoes from your own garden.....like sweet, soft and melt in your mouth richness. :drool

Life is good and all good things come from the Lord, so am thanking God with every step today. :bow

Today I'm so very thankful that God sustained my body throughout this work day, helping me to bear up under pain and still move, lift and work throughout the day. I couldn't have done it without Him, that's for sure.

I'm also thankful for meaningful work to do. He fills my head with ideas on how to be a better steward of the land and home He has provided and then provides a way to do it all. Most folks would probably not thank God for work, but I love to work and especially this type of working....something that makes a visible improvement. Taking something rough and/or unusable and making it smooth, attractive and functional.

My sister visited the other day, she hadn't been here for 3 yrs. She was amazed at the changes Mother and I had made here and couldn't believe how much was done. I could have told her it was not to our credit that the place had changed so very much, but to my Heavenly Father, who provided the means to do it and the inspiration to do it. He also provided us the bodily strength and endurance to complete these tasks. Without Him, we couldn't do much at all, so everything we have here is to His glory and not ours.

My Father is a good one and He cares about how we feel, how fulfilled our lives are and provides for all our needs so completely that it's beyond our comprehension. As I looked around the place on this balmy, beautiful day, I couldn't help thinking of that part in Psalms 23....

He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;

....that's what if felt like today. The breeze kissed my face and lifted my hair so gently it was like the caress of a parent to a child, comforting and filled with love. Seeing the animals spread out on the grass, lying there in these green pastures with eyes closed, safe and content in the cool grass under a blue sky, knowing they were feeling the same way...that feeling of being well cared for, at peace and feeling loved so deeply. Truly He restores my soul!

Love, love, love your description!
It stormed here during the night (and the house smells sooo cool and fresh!) So I was walking outside early, picking up a few small downed branches, watching my chickens run along the fence line to keep track of me, looking at the last raindrops glistening on the leaves, and listening to the breeze. The wind in the treetops brought me right back to my childhood walking through the woods with my dad and siblings going to find waterfalls. And when you listen, you can't quite tell if it's the wind in the trees or the water you hear. I had a deep deep feeling of contentment.

Oh Lord, my God,
When I in awesome wonder...

...then sings my soul, my Saviour God to thee,
How great thou art,
How great thou art

Some days are just beyond blessed, aren't they??

Bee, busy bee as always :) Your animals remind me of a place we stayed for awhile, with friends. Their dogs were unbelievably greedy, though well fed. I made some small beds for growing squash and their cats thanked me for the nicely dug over toilets :rolleyes:followed by the dang dogs going digging in there for the cats' deposits which they ate. (I did mention they were well fed?!?) I ended up placing large stones around the plants, so they don't all get dug up.
