Oh geeze - that sounds like a bad situation that isn't getting any better!

it has compared to how it was several years ago. sometimes they hit so hard the house shakes.

the winds have died down somewhat so the power company is doing ok with catching up on people who've lost power. only about 1,200 connections to get back to working again (97 different outages).

it could have been a lot worse.

In 2011, over Christmas, we went to Kennedy Space Center. Loved it. Shuttle Atlantis was staged on the launch pad. It was awesome to see it just sitting there.

The various tours were awesome. The Saturn rocket display was magnificent.

I preferred Universal over Disney, to be honest.

Did xmas with DH's family. Anout 90 minute drive each way and we ended up needing to drive separately. I left first and there was patches of glare ice on the interstate. Last 1/3 of the drive was stressful! Some slipping/sliding but stayed on the road and didn't hit anything. DH went through a couple hours later and the road was free of ice.

On the way home, I drove over the overpass to get to the onramp, saw shine on the road and went "oh hay-ell no" and drove home on the backroads. DH took the interstate.

I can't get to my chickens down the hill. I can see their coop door opened and they are within the enclosed area. But I can't get there to pour boiling water into their waterer cus everything is ICE. Slick ICE!

Trees down with these strong winds, after heavy rains recently, has made for outages in a wide area. So far, only an hr this past morning here. Far luckier than those going all day. Especially with these temps and possibly no heat. It's chilly in here and I do have heat.

Same here but not all from this storm. After the drought this year and then so much rain and some wind they are toppling constantly. Neighbor dragged a couple off the road recently and the county came out last week and took several out of the ditches so they wouldn't block drainage. Mostly "junk" tallow trees, but a tree is a tree. Sad to see them go...
