Can I tap maple tree's now?

I was thinking about doing a couple hickories too. I wish I lived near people like y'all-everyone here thinks Ive lost my mind if I talk about things like that. I don't have anything to tap with though.

You can make spiles out of PVC. They don't work as well, but they do work.

Hmmmmm.... I'll have to look that up. PVC and fittings are pretty cheap.

Tap on, Ya'll! I don't think I'll get to do it this year either and it's a shame- I really enjoy reading my seed catalogs while I boil it down. We made a little "syrup shed" last year and it was like a mini-vacation, I swear.
