CheerioLounge - Desert Dreamin'

J got stuck in Long Beach doing alterations to just about all of the outfits he made. The girl that measured everyone did not do it correctly! :barnie At least she measured everyone larger than they really are as opposed to smaller. Much easier to make an outfit smaller than larger! :/ He has been down there since Thursday and will be coming home tomorrow. They really wanted him there for all of the services anyway, since he is a "member of the family". I just talked to him and apparently some of the people did not pay for their outfits. :rant So unless one of the "elders" takes care of that he will be about 150 bucks short! He is a bit PO'd. :somad I don't blame him. It took 2 weeks to make everything and then he had to re-make most of them and he's been trapped there for 5 days!! :barnie

as hard as the situation is i hope he doesnt let them get away with not paying...
his work from what ive seen here is beautiful and qulity and he deserves to be paid.

Can't he tell them no outfits until they're paid for? Or, since they're friends, won't he do that? That's the problem w/doing business w/friends.

Hi Everybody!! So sorry to have been away so long. Life in the desert has been rather busy the last month or so (when was the last time I logged in?!) :idunno

Happily, J has been extremely busy with sewing jobs and that as been taking up most of our time. 2 weddings for a total of 8 bridesmaids dresses and a 14 member Polynesian dance troup that needs 3 different costumes each!! $$$$ :thumbsup And on top of that the alterations have picked up as well!!

I did get peas, tomatoes and bell peppers started (Thank You WBF!), but unfortunately they got moved outside a bit too soon and the tomatoes and peppers did not make it. The peas got off to a great start, but the friggin' squirrels figured out a way to get up into the planter boxes and proceeded to devour a good chunk of them. We moved the planter a bit farther away from the wall and that solved the problem and the peas are making a comeback. We went to a local nursery just for kicks and found some Beefsteak tomatoes, tomatillos and Kentucky Wonder pole beans on sale. 6 beautifully started plants of each variety for 2 bucks!! They are going gangbusters! I can't wait to make some salsa verde!! :drool

My 5 hens are back to laying between 30 & 35 eggs a week. Yay!! I'm still hoping to add another 5 or 6 pullets before it starts to get REALLY hot. It's been averaging about 96 degrees the last few weeks, but today was 103 with 5% humidity and it's forecast to be 113 tomorrow! It's looking like it's going to be a VERY hot summer. :th

We apparently did not get enough rain through fall and winter, so there were ABSOLUTELY NO wildflowers this year! :( I was so bummed! The lack of rain has not hurt the squirrel population though! They are friggin' everywhere! The birds of prey seem to be rather abundant this year as well. It does seem to have affected the desert iguanas; I haven't seen a single one yet.

I'm planning to be around as much as I can... but no promises! I sure do miss y'all!!

welcome back :frow

I was wondering today where you had went to, glad to have you back. :)

:weee Cheerio! :weee Missed you too! Glad you're back! :ya

:celebrate for J getting lots of work! Not surprising though, is it? Once everybody saw his work, they couldn't think of going anywhere else! ;)

We have squirrel issues here too :tongue

Nice garden, well, what survived looks great, anyway

:hugs Just so good to 'hear' from you! Everybody has been worried!

Thanks Everybody!! Sorry if I worried anyone, but there's nothin' to worry about here!! All in all life is good!

Gotta get out there and water now, so I'll talk to y'all later!

I am so happy to be back! Gotta lot of catching up to do and new folks to meet I see!

:hugs to all of you!!
