CheerioLounge - Desert Dreamin'

this is the recipe I use:

Mrs. Quinn's Easy Brownies

3/4 cups melted butter
1-1/2 cups sugar
1-1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs
1/2 cup cocoa powder
3/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped, toasted nuts
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Heat oven to 350 degrees, grease a 13x9" pan. Beat butter, eggs, sugar, vanilla in a large bowl. Mix in cocoa, flour, baking powder and salt. Stir to combine. Stir in nuts and chips. Pour into pan. Bake Mrs. Quinn's Easy Brownies for 20-22 minutes.

I usually have to bake them a couple minutes longer.

I feel your pain with the neighbor dragging you all over the place for hours. I learned that there are certain people you don't want to ride along with, too. My latest was a friend that wanted me to go with her to a thrift store in a neighboring town. I got two little things in that little store....in two hours. She wanted to hit the book section - in three stores. Agh. Took all day.

Are you still getting eggs? My girls are down to giving me ONE egg a day now. Pretty poor performance for 5 new girls and two oldies. I might have to have the chicken and noodles talk with them today.

Thanks for the recipe Marianne! My 5 girls are still averaging 3 a day, so I can't complain. We just don't eat eggs for breakfast everyday. But you can bet I keep a few back for baking!!

In fact I tried a new recipe the other night. Cinnamon cake... It wasn't quite what I was hoping for. The texture was great, but it would be better served as a breakfast cake with butter spread on it. The recipe suggested a cinnamon syrup, which I tried, but it tasted better in the saucepan than it did on the cake. I am so glad I didn't pour it over the whole cake! It looks pretty in the picture though!

One of the neighbors up the road had a sliding glass door and we wanted to put one in the bedroom addition, so"J" bartered with the guy and traded a custom slipcover for the door. Here is the completed slipcover.

The man can sew!

Wow that's a pretty awesome job! :th The cake looks good too :D

Ya, no kidding! Great looking slip cover and great looking cinnamon cake, too! (even if the sauce wasn't as good as you thought, it still looks like it should have been!)

The slip cover looks great!!! I hope you saved the cinnamon syrup for something else like pancakes!

Beautiful job on the sofa! Always wanted to tackle something similar (or re-covering an old chair), but I lack the confidence.

I can't explain why, but I am craving brownie's or cinnamon cake for dessert
