CheerioLounge - Desert Dreamin'

Tiny little land mines around all the plants might work too. Netting also might work but it's not as fun as tiny land mines :hu

I'm not familiar w/ground squirrels since we don't have them around here, but won't they just jump like other squirrels? I know for the ones we have around here, they can jump several feet into the air.

If they are ground squirrels, are they the tunneling kind like we have around here? If so, you'll need bottoms or tight-weave chicken wire under your raised beds. We actually have chicken wire fences around our raised beds to keep the critters out

They are burrowing ground squirrels about 6" long, not including the tail, and they can jump but not very high. My containers are all solid bottom (except for drainage) and the larger ones stand 3 feet off the ground.

Plants in the other containers will be protected by chicken wire.

Cloudy, cool and windy again today! I can't wait for summer!

Today will be a baking day... Bread, rolls and a cake. Gotta get started! I'll check back later...

Have a great day everyone

That raised garden is. Beautiful! Have a good baking day.
That, unfortunately, is a pic of last years plantings. But, Thanks! I'm hoping this years will do as well.

Bread dough rising as I type, waiting for 2 more eggs before I can bake my cake.

I knew it was last years garden silly...and it is lovely.
Waiting on eggs huh? Maybe you should go out and squeeze a few out of the hens???? I hate waiting for eggs to drop. It is like watching a pot of water waiting for it to boil. The more you check, the slower it takes.

I was pretty sure that you had seen it before...

Oh well, maybe some other reader hasn't and I don't want them to think I am some sort of magical gardener to have grown this in Jan/Feb! :lau

I only need one more egg! I reached under two of them this morning and pulled out 1!
