CheerioLounge - Desert Dreamin'

Thanks i'll try it tomorrow and see what kind of results i get and let you know. I don't see anyhting "off" about the recipe :hu I thought maybe there would be something there, btu it appears fine. Sometimes I have to read one off to my mom and she can tell me an obvious mistake in the recipes i can't see through my own frustration  I experiment A LOT! Matter of fact I made some excellent hot sauce today experimenting with some dried peppers. I'll have to wait about 7 days before I can really taste anything again, but it was worth it :lau DH was jealous it was going to the neighbors :P I'll be making him some tomorrow :P

It ain't hot sauce if you can still feel your tongue! The bad part is the next day when you find out you've actually bitten your tongue and didn't know it!!

I'm making your cake this morning :D Then I have to get busy around this stanky house :sick It's not really stanky, but it looks like it would be...major cleanup coming!!!!!!

It turned out great. Mine is a bit dense..more pound cakey than yellow cakey. I think I used too many eggs in mine. I have ginormous eggs and i think it was too much. :hu It has a GREAT flavor though! :drool I didn't use a mixer, just a wooden spoon to mix it. I dunno if that would make any difference or not. I used butter as well, real butter, rather than shortening. I may try oil next time and see if that makes a big difference. All in all though, it's pretty darn good. I din't have any other issues other than possibly needing to tweak the recipe a bit for my big eggs. :P

It is a dense cake, that's for sure. I would prefer to use real butter as well, but margarine is cheaper. What kind of pan did you use? I guess I'll have to mix by hand. I think the mixer is just too much! Thanks for your input! :D

No problem I LOVE to help with baking :drool

I used a 13x9 pyrex cake pan for it. I LOVE the golden brown edges, and I really like the way the cake tastes, ya just can't find that kind of flavor in a box!!! This is a keeper! Mixing by hand was pretty easy. I even cheated and just dumped all the ingredients in a bowl. No "cream the butter and sugar yadda yadda". I just mixed it all up :P I did melt the butter first though. I know for some recipes that is not always the best idea, but I wanted to see if it would matter with this one. I have found a lot of cakes that say that, just want to make sure it is mixed well :hu I mix well anyway, so I skip it. :hide

Woke up to a gorgeous morning here! Excited to get outside and do something... anything! Too bad it didn't last... :th The dang wind has picked up again, about 20 mph gusting to 35 and rain is expected later this afternoon through tomorrow. So ain't much getting done around here again today! :barnie

Hmmm... I don't know why, but I am a stickler for following the recipe... I've always heard that baking is a "science", not as forgiving as cooking. I guess I should just relax. I'm going to try your method next time. I will have to use a 13x9 metal non-stick pan. How long did it bake?

28 minutes. Yes relax, baking is sposed to be FUN ;)

I always follow a recipe exactly --the first time. After that I kinda know what I can change and get away with. I love baking!
