Thank you @farmerjan and @Hinotori for the help with egg handling. I will candle at 15 days, seems like a good day, and then let them be.

I've used a cardboard tube from TP to help candle. most full sized chicken breeds have eggs the size to fit nicely at one end, light at other. Helps concentrate the light.

Sorry. Bantams, silkies and quail eggs are too small and slide thru!!

This chick hatched this morning. It has a crest bigger than many hatchery silkies already. It's the fluffiest thing.
