I forgot to say that my sister-in-law and her husband came over and helped with their small back hoe. It sure did help.

And one of the lenses on my glasses fell out when I was wiping water off them.

Sorry about the eye glasses. I hate it when they break. Good luck on that water line.. Sounds like you have a great plan. I should talk my husband into adding a ball valve to the top of ours. Last time we had a problem I drove may car down the hill. Had to dig up the main with my hands. It was sooooooooo much fun.

I know what it's like to go to the meter and turn the water off and on. At least we have running water even if it isn't all the time.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a nice day, although a little cool. We should be able to find and fix the leak.

It's rained here so much that we would find water in any hole we dug.

Found water in a hole we left overnight. It is at the top of the hill. I hope it isn't just from the rain. I don't think it is. A very cautious

hang in there...you are getting close. these types of problems are always just aggrevating...but you will be done soon hopefully!

Dac just called me and wanted me to share this with everyone:

We're getting closer to finding the water leak. Cut the phone line while we did it, so I'm going to be without internet for a while.

Also, they won't be able to fix the water line until they get the gas company out there to mark the gas line, because the gas line crosses the water line near the leak.

Water leak is fixed. Phone line is repaired.

The leak was a failed repair job from when the gas company cut my water line many years ago. I have no idea why it took so long to fail but it did. It was about 15 feet from the house.
