I'm spending too much time here. I seriously dreamed about horchata last night.

Yikes! Those little predators can be the worst. A trap is a good idea.

Burned three of the four brush piles today. Now it's time to start building them again. Also burned most of the dead weeds in the garden plot. While all this burning was happening we purposely let the fire spread a bit and burned off a bit of the field. It sure looks better around here.

The daffodils are almost ready to bloom.

More birds are singing. Spring is right around the corner.



Revising the list again. Removed some completed tasks. Updated some work that is done and in progress.

Forget about prioritizing. Too many things happen simultaneously and are weather and mood dependent.


New house built.
More firewood cut. This is one of those continuing projects. When this winter is over it will be time to keep cutting for next winter. Have a good start on firewood for next season.
Fix garage light.
Seal floor by toilet.
Dam cleaned off.
5 years of neglect cleaned up--firebreak, driveway, autumn olive, back 20, dam
Fire break prepared for prescribed burn--includes some firewood
Trail to back 20
Clear "backyard", get some firewood out of it too.
Fruit trees pruned.
Cut fence posts and continue with timber stand improvement in cedar area.
Fencing around the orchard.
Fencing around the garden--mostly done, have to close gap at bottom of fence.
Eradicate non native and invasive species--autumn olive, phragmites, Nepalese browntop, honeysuckle (yeah right)
Burn piles. Mostly done until we make new ones.
Timber stand improvement--more firewood and NNIS eradication.
AC installed.
Family history.
Write articles for SS.
Go through stuff and get rid of accumulated stuff that isn't needed. Yard sale?
Garden taken better care of.
Rabbits.
More chickens for the freezer.
Clean up and fence around cemetery. Started cleaning up.
Make front porch
Make shed for firewood. Put tarp on frame and put it over the firewood until the shed gets built.
Deer stand repaired.
Finish trim work around doors, windows, and baseboards. Buy wood for trim work
Gravel for driveway
Hydraulic leak on tractor. Fixed a long time ago.

goodness, dac, that's a to do list and a half, isn't it?

Dac, my to do list would be just as long. So I keep it to the first 5 things I think off and work on those. I keep the list around for a while until I get bored with it and then make up a new one. It is just too overwhelming and new stuff keeps popping up. Having a long list just depresses me and I don't do any of it. So I am better off keeping it short.
Every once in a while I do make a master list, but I tell myself that I really don't have to get all of it done right away!!! and then chop it up into managable portions

Working on my firebreak and doing prescribed burns at other people's places this week. Lots of smoke in the eyes.

If I make a long to do list. I cross of anything I got done in hi-lighter pen. Seeing the bright line on that stuff reminds me I am getting somewhere on the projects. A little confidence boost never hurt.

I have been working on prescribed burns this week. I haven't been behind the camera too much so I don't have any of the spectacular photos. These are more typical.

Ok so that is not something you would see everyday. Are the burns more to enrich the soil or prevent wild fires?
