Checked the rain gauge while pix were loading and we got an inch in this stormy period! Sweeet!!!
I'll be able to pull up a huge clump of narrow-leaved Plantain, a lot of Queen-Anne's-Lace (the buns love it) and a teasel-ly looking wildflower from the gravel at the end of the driveway for transplanting.
I have been dealing with a piss-poor attitude the whole time we'd been droughting and I don't like myself when I'm in that mood. I think that's why I haven't been posting as much lately...on top of being busy. No need to drag y'all down, too!
A neat nature story from Moms:
A couple of civilized visits ago at Moms, we took the dogs for a walk to the pond, fed the catfish and she and I got froggy and decided to walk the woods in shorts (

) since it was kind of cool, weather-wise. We paid for it in harvesting a ton of ticks BUT we found a female box turtle laying her eggs and a possible young
Paw Paw tree.

I didn't have the camera with me, of course.

We need to do that walk again to get pix of the possible Paw Paw and atleast two possible
Thong Trees aka Native America Trail Marker Trees.
Okay, back home to the Strangeness Acres.
The other day, when I warded off the potential rain by being prepared for it (

), I was going to crush cans, when I noticed a young Walking Stick which has some dried grass attached to it's tail-end. Lo and behold, I managed to catch my first Walking Stick molting!
My full-time watering job is paying off in some areas:
Blackberries at the camp patch (so glad I didn't eradicate them, like I'd planned):
The adopted Asparagus is going crazy:
And we have many Figs on our little tree. Just a few of them, for your viewing pleasure:
Since doc has been bringing home copious amounts of free, hardwood sawdust from work for the sawdust toilet, we kinda got over run with it. So, we're starting to use it the walkways of the garden. This will make my life a bit easier. :
Doc's grillin' and chillin' in the rain (

):
This coming Friday, we will be the proud owners of an Enterprise Lard/Fruit Wine Press.

Made a down payment on it yesterday and after we did some research, we realized we're lacking the strainer plate and basket but we can eventually get replacements for them. We're super excited about this little unexpected purchase!!!
Did more research on the blackberry wine and we're going to need atleast 9 and a half gallons (or close to 30 pounds) to do a 5 gallon batch.

I'm positive we don't have that much here so we'll go picking this coming weekend at my aunts.
Well, I'm runnin' off at the mouth, ain't I?

Got a minor, crappy story to rant about but'll I'll save it for later! :/
