Almost Self-Reliant
Had a rather productive afternoon outside and didn't blow away! 
The bag of pea seed didn't go on vacation with the Arkansas Traveller tomato and Birdhouse gourd seeds.
After I cleaned up the small area for them, I got a 15' double row planted. Would have planted more but took advantage of the wet soil and pulled tree-root suckers along the inside of the garden fence.
Supposed to be nice tomorrow so I'll get a 30' row of peas in one of the edge-beds planted sice it's baby-tree-free now.
Will also hopefully get two, 20' rows of peas planted on either side of the strawberry bed/row.
As I'm typing this, I hear an odd noise outside. Needed to close up the coops anyways, so I go to investigate. The spring peepers (frogs) are peeping!!!
I have several, just singing their hearts out, in the trio of 20 gallon tub "ponds" which are about 15' behind the camper. Too cool!
How about some tub pond pix?
These are Lowe's rescue Water Lillies that we bought back in TN (paid under $2.00 for each one) and brought with us:
My 'Judith Hinkle' Pitcher plant. We bought it out here and it has over-wintered out there for 2 years now. Not the best pic. :

They're early here, we don't usually hear from them until March. I'm wondering if they are "exited" because we have thunderstorms headed our way tonight? 
Hey Deb, want me to throw in some Riesentrabe tomato seeds, too? Ended up with two packets of the from Baker's and have a ton of the seed. I'm glad whoever packaged these seeds couldn't count as low as 15 or 25.

I had a "pond" in a big tub in Hawai'i with water lilies and some "feeder" goldfish that were left over from some centerpieces we did for a wedding. Those fish got huge. They almost looked like Koi! Geez, I miss Hawai'i!

Peepers!!! I had never heard them until I moved up here to MD with all the water... they are very cool and a special part of spring.
I do hope that one day when we get our own place we can have a pond so I can have bull frogs. I miss them from when we would go down to the lake house that my grandparents had when I was a kid! Love that sound!

Dawn, I'd love it! The only "grape" type tomatoes I've found have been hybrids, and I eat em like candy.
HQ13, one thing w/bullfrogs, if you want anything else in your pond, you don't want bullfrogs, they'll eat everything else!

Well, Howdy CL! 
We tried Guppies in these ponds but the snakes ate them.
Mom has a large pond on her place. The summer we bought our place she added Goldfish. Her pond is stocked with catfish and redear sunfish (I think that's what they are), but she added the goldfish for the color they'd add.
Well, doc and I are pretty sure that they became Heron feed, since they stuck out like a sore thumb, compared to the native fish in the pond. Ooops!

I have gold fish in my pond. But, I also have a fake blue heron. And, it's kept the real ones away. I saw one starting to come in for a landing one day-until it realized it was already occupied!

One of the nice things about our place in Hawai'i was our location. We were in a deep walled valley perched on the south wall 65 steps up from the road and our back yard backed right up to the side of the mountain. We looked out over the entire valley and it was completely secluded. Sole, our dog, kept any and all predators out so the fish were safe. I even had a huge cage out there with 4 Jackson's chameleons.
