Life has settled down to normally chaotic. I'm thinking seriously about starting early on a rabbit breeding project I've been imagining. I found a rabbit with the foundation genetics I need at a fair price.

This is the hard thing about starting a farm from scratch. Everything seems to happen all at once! Its rough, but boy do you learn a lot! Its difficult not to bite off more than you can chew when you really don't have a perspective for how much work it will be. And for me anyway, by this time of the year, I'm getting a little tired of everything. And now the fall crops are going in! It never seems to stop.

I bought the rabbit. He's just going to eat and cost me $ until spring. Not too much work! I hung a cage in the barn over the gutter. Safer from predators, safe rodents stealing food, easy to clean. He's a cute little bugger. I hope our doe produces a live litter in spring. She is 4, never been bred.

The second crop of blueberries is here! Second crop raspberries is coming soon.

We have 5-1/2 cord of wood stacked and split in the basement. Another trailer-fulls and we should be all set for winter. There is still wood to cut, split, and stack in the pole shed. It's endless!

I got 3 bee stings yesterday! OUCH! I'm all ouchy, itchy, and swollen today. My left thumb, right wrist and on my butt too! :/

If your bunny has never been bred B4, I'm not sure if you can breed her now. I seem to recall hearing or reading that part of their skeleton will fuse and make it impossible to deliver. But I'm not 100% sure. Maybe someone that raises rabbits can chime in. I'd hate to see something bad happen.

Sounds like you're really been busy w/the wood. And I didn't get any blueberries or raspberries this year so make sure you enjoy them for me.

Be mindful of the be Sun's. If you are having an minor allergic reaction that could mean that getting stung in the future could bring on a bigger allergic reaction.

I've been keeping quiet around here, not wanting to spill the beans yet, but well, yeah.... I'm 11 weeks pregnant. having some complications that affect my ability to work, so weaning off of work. I'll be done working by Christmas if not sooner.

Now my future is looking like stay at home mom of 2, taking on more farm chores, and keeping a tighter budget.

In farm news, the 3 remaining lambs are doing well. The ram is the sweetest, he likes having his mutton chops scratched. <3 We are hoping they breed, but they're growth was serious setback by their sickness, so we'll see.

We brought home a cat to live in the barn, she is settling in. We don't know if she will catch mice. Hoping she will! She is a vet rescue special. She was found as a one-eyed, seriously injured stray almost a year ago by a vet's family. Vet patched her up and she lived in a spare room in a foster home since. She's absolutely a sweetie, way too nice to be a barn cat.

We butchered all but 12 (ish?) chickens. OK, I take no credit for butchering chickens. The old washing machine turned chicken plucker is so cool! We have 2 roosters and hens. The roosters are just starting to crow and hens have not started laying yet.

We are not breeding the dairy goat for next year.

The new baby buck rabbit is sweet as can be and growing fast. The doe passed away. I'm looking for a really nice mini rex and Holland lop cross doe, any color except REW or broken. looking for a great "smushy" big head, well fleshed body and super dense coat.

Bowhunting for deer has been poor so far this year. Seeing plenty of deer on trail cams, they're staying out of range. Gun season is coming up.... We need 2 big deer or 3 smallish to last the year. And we'll need another freezer!!

Congrats on the pregnancy! You sure have your work cut out for you but ending you job will probably give you the extra time you need.

Don't work tooooo hard- enjoy your pregnancy AND your farm.

have been reading your thread. congratulations on the new home and on the upcoming baby. as FEM said don't work to hard and take good care of yourself. you need to get angora rabbits. their fur/wool what ever you call it is so soft and light you almost can't feel it and would make an incredible baby blanket, lol just what you need, another project
