Hey everyone!

Today I am unfortunately at work but my girlfriend has just let me know that our duck egg is hatching as we speak! The first pip was about an hour or so ago and now I am sitting here patiently waiting for updates lol!
As soon as I receive any pics or updates I will post on the thread during my breaks.
This is going to be one looooooong day at work.

We now have ducks too, and I'm really really enjoying them! During the day, they have free range in the garden. They spend much of their day under the okra, which effectively hides them from any potential hawk. We have runner ducks, and their soft conversations with each other is pleasing to hear. They are GREAT foragers and they don't snack on my veggies or tear up my plants like the chickens do. What's not to like about them?

We even found out that duck eggs are (apparently) even better for cancer patients than chicken eggs are.
Mine are Chocolate Runners. I have 4 (not laying yet.)

@Jeffeff95 your duck pictures are adorable! Does he/she have a name?

What breed of ducks do you have?

I have 4 Indian Runners. @Beekissed has Runners and I think, 1 Pekin. She says it sounds like laughter when it quacks!:D

Here, the ducks free roam in the garden. The chickens free roam in the yard (they have about 6 acres or so to roam since the neighbor always throws stuff out for them so she can watch them.) I bring the ducks over for her every few days.

:love My ducklings and chicks share a brooder and are absolutely bats about each other. Whenever I take the ducklings out for their swim the chicks go nuts until I bring them back. I often find the chicks sleeping on the ducklings' backs, or snuggled up with them too. Your little guy should be along well with your chicks :)

They get along great! The chicks were a bit weary at first but when I came back in after an hour or so they were snuggled up together! Glad they all get along, it has also gotten attached to my girlfriend quite a bit. Whenever it hears her voice the little guy goes nuts!
