Then there is the family one before trips. "Go to the bathroom, the next one is in 200 miles." That was literally unless we stopped at Biggs Junction or Multnomah Falls. There is one rest stop now I think. Or the variation "there's no bushes in the desert" We did a lot of trips to ghost towns.

Oh speaking of sparsely or non treed dessert mountain roads. "Pack a lunch if you go off."
Hubby, who grew up on the mountain roads of West Virginia delivering parts to coal mines, is absolutely terrified of some of those roads he followed Dad down in Eastern Oregon. He makes me drive on them as they don't bother me. Soft shoulders and guard rails only on curves.

It’s colder than a well digger’s ass in Montana.

Busier than a 3 legged cat in a sandbox.

It’s so hot, the devil went back to Hell.

Drunker than Cooter Brown.

I don’t know who Cooter Brown was, but he must have been a famous drunk. LOL

Dog my every footstep.

Dogs always seem to know where you are going, get in front of you, walk slow and stop, wanting to get petted.
