Wow, you actually READ all that??? :P

I wish I could have most of my days be like today....
Haha. I've been up since 5 or so, had two finals today, and just finished the second one. It was like a hot bath and a romance novel rolled into one! Soothing for the soul. It's rainy here, I'm overly caffeinated, I can't cook because most of my stuff is getting packed so I've been eating frozen microwave food and I've cried twice for no reason today. Reading all that is the best thing I've done yet. So THANK YOU. :D

There is something to be said about vodka and stuff for cooking. I followed the recipe you gave last year for vanilla and I found out the your recipe will last 5-7 years. I did split the bean through the center and kept it in a dark cool place, and used 8 onces of the best Russian vodka money can buy.

I did it proper and have a great finished product..... :thumbsup

However you didn't mention what to do with the remaining vodka, so I decide to make a red curent/black current drinky after it sat over winter, added a little maple syrup, and I just drank the dang thing, just because it felt good. :celebrate
Ya make screwdrivers and vodka collins with it, silly!

Do tell about the currant drink, though.....how did you make it? Fruit liquors are next on my project list, when the fresh fruit starts hitting the farmstands this summer.

What a nice thing to say....thanks for getting today off to a nice start for me!

Still looking for the romance in my journal entry....or at least, the heaving bosom.... :P

Well TLTL may have gotten all warm and fuzzy reading your last entry, but it just made me tired!

Dang, that is a lot to cram into one day :gig

I did NOT read all that but intend to! I got stuck on Cilantro-yuck! I hate it too!!
I also would like to request stepping stone pictures.
I have a summer looming ahead of me that can either slip away leaving me feel unfulfilled or I can learn from you and get through each day feeling satisfied which is my goal (LOL-I typo'd goal as goat!!)
Getting through these last few days of school is tough. I want to get organized. I want to cook. I want to make cheese. aaaaaaaaaa
sorry, took over your journal there!!!!

I think your day sounded wonderful!!

I like the idea of writing task on little cards. I am a list person. I usually do pretty well but my items are not as time sensitive as yours.

I would like to be getting more done in the kitchen. I need to get some stuff together for canning and be ready to run with it.

We have been drinking the kefir on a regular basis. I make a peach/ frozen banana smoothie for the kids after school. Sweetened with a touch of honey. I use almost a quart a day now. Yum!! I still see only the tiniest lump in my kefir. But I make sure it goes into the next batch. With about 2 tbsp of liquid. Seems to be working.

I hope to try some cheese soon. Still keeping my eye open for that bamboo steamer.

Pizza sounded great!!

I was tired at the end of the day, too! But still went to bed with my cheesemaking book to read. How weird is it that I fall asleep reading recipes?!?!?

Take my journal over anytime....

I do get a lot done, but....my house is quite messy, which can cause me some embarrassment at times. A friend recently said to me....what do I want on my tombstone....her house was spotless, or she lived life to the full? That comforts me a lot. One day, I will find a way to hire someone to clean my house for me weekly. I've done some trading on occasion, but so far, it hasn't really worked out. Beleive it or not, I had a housecleaning business while I was going to massage school. Even way back then, I could average $25-30 per hour if I was in a fast mood, and could listen to my study tapes at the same time. I was VERY good and VERY thorough. But I just cleaned, I didn't pick up. It is the picking up and putting away that challenges me.

It takes a LOT of "stuff" to be able to do all this self sufficiency homesteading stuff! If I had a dollar for everytime I heard, "Wow, you have a lot of jars!" I'd retire today! And I want more jars.....

Mine tends to be messy too. Piles of books etc. Not dirty, just stuff around. The floor usually needs a good sweeping. I'm slowly purging stuff we don't eat or cook with anymore and making room for goat necessities like jars, etc. I've got some ideas and DH is on board. Just need to be out of school to have the time in bigger chunks. Cleaning is definitely the task that gets pushed aside when life gets busy! I hate doing it so I'm not too worried about it most of the time! Like last night, I ended up making a last minute trip to Whole Foods after supper. I had to scrounge for clean clothes this morning because the laundry didn't get done. But the animals and child were taken care of. Priorities, it's all about priorities!

You guys are making me feel so much better about my unswept floor, the laundry in baskets in my room & the never-made bed. I'm not alone!
Your laundry is in baskets? Not in piles on the floor?
