Same here with grass!!!!

So, how long did you smoke that bacon? In a smoker, grill, oven? what? Applewood? I can almost taste it!! Looks good and I'm ready for some.

I brought kosher salt home yesterday, so all here to do this soon as I know that a smoke day is open.
 
I smoked it in a pit that has an offset firebox. Musta let it go about 6 hours. I used mostly Applewood, but had a bag of Jack Daniels whiskey barrel chips so I tossed a few of those in there too. Even my (good) neighbor who is a master hunter/smoker/barbecuer asked what smelled so good!

I'm gonna give him a chunk tomorrow because he lets my animals run on his property.
 
Bacon!!! I want a chunk too and you can let your animals run on my property!! :plbb:lol: That sounds so good! I miss my animals, but I don't know that I'd have time for them as things are at the moment. I'll just live vicariously through you on that note, but that bacon sure makes me want hogs again!!!
 
I don't foresee it in my future. I'll buy from well known breeders and slaughter myself but I can't raise them
 
That'll work too. Realistically, I should do the same and leave the hog raising to the hog raising experts....but I like diversity, lol. And, being over worked. And, spending a ton on feed. And, a dozen other reasons why I shouldn't do some of the things I do, lol!!
 
Yeah I got overwhelmed with the hogs getting out myself. Tired of chasing cows. Tired of chickens pooping on the porch instead of ranging like I wanted them to. Tired of cleaning incubators...the list could go on and on. But I still miss it.
