I'm about to booby trap it!

Thanks for the good wishes ya'll. We are both just ready to get this behind us and for him to have some semi-normal vision again!

We had his follow-up appointment this morning and all is well. He can definitely see better - YAY!!!! The pressing problem now is that while his vision is much improved - it's not perfect - and he still needs correction for that eye. Basically - his current glasses don't work for that eye anymore....and it'll be approximately 3 weeks to a month before he can get new ones. He has to finish healing before they'll check him for a new prescription. We even talked about popping that lens out of his current glasses so he can still use the glasses and have the correction for his other eye. He thinks it'll look stupid (and it will, lol) But I think that's the temporary solution. Geeze crazy stuff.

Shame on me --I keep going into these surgeries thinking all will be perfect afterwards and it isn't....but we are definitely further down the road than we were.

Next problem - he's going to need the surgery on the other eye - so does it make sense to get glasses in between the two surgeries? Not in my book. BUT he's got to be able to drive and work. I think he should get contacts but he's so against them because years ago he tried the hard contact lenses and remembers how he could never get accustomed to them. I keep telling him how easy and comfortable they are now - so I think I can convince him.

Maddie is still in heat. Cowboy is still going nuts, lol.

The goat who was injured is sooooo much better! The muscle has smoothed out from the huge baseball sized knot that was in there. She uses that foot very well now, but I think there will always be a problem with it. You don't even notice her limping at all, but if she moves fast that joint still knuckles over. Not as much a it did - but it still happens.

I'm about to turn the goats loose in the area that was formerly a garden, lol. It needs to be cleaned up and I can, maybe, think about a fall garden of sorts. Too hot to worry about it right now...

I actually took a little nap this afternoon. I've never been able to sleep when the sun is up - but lately I'm trying to learn how, lol.
I'm still dragging after getting up at 4am yesterday. Even thinking about an early bedtime tonight!

That's wondering news about the goat! I've been wondering how she's doing.

Glad DH is getting sorted with his eyes now. One step at a time, he'll get there I think contact lenses for the interim is a great idea! I used to wear the soft ones they are awesome. He can also then wear one in the "good" eye only, which will help his vision, while he's waiting for the other eye to heal.

Glad everyone is in recovery! I have a hard time keeping up with what's going on over here anymore lol! Progress though, is always a good thing!

Well, the dog situations...will pass, eventually. Then it will be rut season for those bucks. Hang on!!

That's why I'm pushing for contacts...glasses are expensive. And, I'm a little peeved because the last time he got glasses he got THREE pair! One prescription sunglasses. I told him to get some clip on sunglasses to go over his glasses - but I wasn't there to rein him in. He also got a pair for distance that he NEVER uses...and a pair of bi-focals for "regular" use. Oh, and top notch name brand frames. Gimme a break! He spent over a grand on glasses and I was PI$$ED! Now none of those pairs are doing him a bit of good. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Okay - relax - deep breath..... Speaking of deep breaths - dreamed I was pregnant last night! YIKES! I kept telling them I couldn't be pregnant - I no longer have all the equipment. Glad to wake up from that one! There is a reason young folks get pregnant, lol!

We've hit the 15th day on Maddie's heat cycle. Even though she is at peak receptivity right now we're finally on the downhill side. Whew!

Really planning on being stingy about goat breeding this year. Not planning on breeding the two I'm milking - going to try to milk them through. In fact, probably not going to breed any Nuians this year. I have a couple second generation Kinders I might reed. All in all - probably breed less than 6 does this year. Gotta have something to milk if/when these gals dry up. While I'm thinking about it, I need to go check the fences around the buck pen, lol.

I'm on a canning kick right now. Too hot to do anything outside. We've actually been eating stuff that I canned 5 years ago and it's just so stinkin' easy to come home and open a 'meal in a jar' and not have to thaw anything or cook other than maybe a side dish. Easy Peasy!

Need to get busy!
