Frustratedearthmother's Journaling Journey

I kinda want to see Conan pics. Please?

Maybe...lol.

I did post a pic of him a while back, but I tried real hard to get him from a good angle.

His rear legs are simply pathetic.... They look like this at the hocks. The one on the right - the EXTREMELY cow-hocked. I don't know how he doesn't rub blisters on his hocks from them rubbing together, lol. (maybe a minimal exaggeration)

For decades I showed goats - I'm not accustomed to breeding to an animal that I consider an inferior specimen...sigh. But, I keep reminding myself that I bought him for parasite resistance - and he's a champion in that department!

Well, it's like the "old mare" you hide behind the barn because of looks. However, she makes show babes!

Wait until you see what he does with the rest. :idunno GENERALLY we do not have this happen but, I have had on rare occasion. It's the genetics that pass, not show. Phenotype & genotype. Let's hope you have that.

If not, well we know what to do. Those 3 week olds look way larger than you would expect, IMO.

Oh Conan, you and your ugly rear end hahaha. Maybe he'll grow into himself.... I mean big breeds mature at 2+ years right?

He's not gonna mature out of those bad legs. :( And, I thought the point of meat breeds was fast growth...sigh. Seems to be working on the babies though - maybe it's hybrid vigor at work. :fl

That's true... you're stuck with the legs. I don't know how fast kikos grow, I just know full size dairy goats grow slow so I was hoping, lol. At least the babies look good! Hope they continue that way!

@sumi - Everybody needs a goat or three! I'll try to get some fresh pics this evening if it isn't too dark.

Went home to check on Cameo at lunch today. Her ligaments were really soft this morning and her udder is growing steadily - but nope - can still barely feel the ligaments. My luck she'll keep me up all night. I don't know what's up with these girls - PIA was he first goat I've had go at night in years! I don't like it...:(

Need more shavings - going broke buying shavings. Hate that the goats are staying inside practically all the dang time now. Can't say that I blame them though. I'm sick of mud - they're sick of mud and guess what the forecast is for tomorrow? More rain....:(

Please do, I love seeing the little ones :love

The weather hasn't been great by you guys for awhile now with the rain, has it? I can imagine you must be getting sick of it!

It was too dark when I was out - and I couldn't find the itty, bitty girl! Yikes! She's so stinkin' tiny that she hid behind a broom....a broom! I was panicking before I finally found her.

This weather - ARGHHHHH! It was 70ish today and will be in the 30's tomorrow, with rain. Sheesh....
