Frustratedearthmother's Journaling Journey

Uhhhhh - I have a tree, lol. This is only it's second year so I haven't had a pomegranate yet. There is a family down the street that has a whole hedge of them...and he had a bunch last year. They're just now blooming this year - so I'm hopeful that I'll actually get a couple this year.

It's a plain ol' rat snake.

Ours are pretty much black around here. As a juvenile you see some patterning but, after about a yr, black. Yes, they get huge. That 6 footer in my hen house couple yrs ago was enough. They seem to like eggs more than mice! Shame.

They are fast moving and they can climb really well.

I went out several times yesterday looking for him...but he's a no show right now. I've been picking up eggs several times a day hoping that if there's not a free meal that he'll move on. Unfortunately, there is a free meal waiting on him in the form of a broody about 4 feet away from where he was. Don't know if she can keep him away or if he can slip right under her without much disturbance.

I hope it stays away from her! Got a dropcage you could put over her?

Not a great day today. We lost a former student over the weekend. This kid was a soft-hearted brat, who would volunteer to help anyone, a class-clown who would act up in class every day - but still say yes ma'am and yes-sir when he was called out for it. He always had a smile on his face, he drove a truck, he was a cowboy.

He did not die alone. He died with his last words professing love for the people who stopped to help him. The first person to get to him was a nurse who gave her all to try and save him. His body was battered and couldn't recover. This nurse, this angel, wrote a letter to his parents.

FEM, that made me cry. So beautiful, so heartfelt. So sorry for you all's loss :hugs RIP Colton, touching lives until the very end..

Thanks @sumi!

More cruddy news. Red went into an early labor...I had to pull one baby that was premature but fairly well developed for being a month early. DOA :( She then went on to deliver two mummified babies that had obviously died in utero some time ago...yuck! I had to give oxytocin to help her deliver and have started antibiotics. She's very stressed but nibbling food and moving around - so I'm hopeful.
