Yes - different system. They've outlawed those type of systems here. They're grandfathered in as long as they work properly but you can't even get them repaired anymore if you have a problem. You have to install the new aerobic system at major expense. And - they need electricity instead of being passive. It's a rip-off! Also have to have them inspected.

i almost bought a place in TN that had a cesspool system and that was it. included in my low price was the fact that i'd have to replace it. glad it worked out that my offer wasn't accepted. after i'd moved on from that area there was a major storm which washed out the roads and bridges and so i dodged that too. *whew!* they did eventually sell it for about the price i offered.

of course where i ended up there are issues and we're getting through them but it's not cheap to own a place and sadly the ex-step-dad who built this place didn't really have a lot of things done right so we're paying now...

@frustratedearthmother yes, the same deal here. The price to pay living off a municipal system
