Yes - different system. They've outlawed those type of systems here. They're grandfathered in as long as they work properly but you can't even get them repaired anymore if you have a problem. You have to install the new aerobic system at major expense. And - they need electricity instead of being passive. It's a rip-off! Also have to have them inspected.

i almost bought a place in TN that had a cesspool system and that was it. included in my low price was the fact that i'd have to replace it. glad it worked out that my offer wasn't accepted. after i'd moved on from that area there was a major storm which washed out the roads and bridges and so i dodged that too. *whew!* they did eventually sell it for about the price i offered.

of course where i ended up there are issues and we're getting through them but it's not cheap to own a place and sadly the ex-step-dad who built this place didn't really have a lot of things done right so we're paying now...

@frustratedearthmother yes, the same deal here. The price to pay living off a municipal system

Rain...again.

Fished for a few minutes yesterday. Caught two mudcats that were not put back in the pond. Caught one decent bass that had a wound on its back. No idea why/how but I'm blaming the stupid herons that hang out there sometimes. Birds need to go away and leave my fish alone!

A mere 4.5 inches of rain today to go along with the 1.5 inches a couple days ago. More to follow tomorrow. Glad I got some things done yesterday including weed whacking around the garden beds, unloading feed and I even baked a loaf of bread along with cooking a semi-gourmet meal. Ok, it was just dinner - not gourmet at all.

DH wants to go to Galveston to get his "smell of the ocean" fix. Probably won't be this week at all - rain, rain, rain. Maybe next week we'll take a picnic lunch, drive down and park on the seawall to smell the (fishy) ocean breeze. It'll at least be a change from our normal dull routine, lol. No docs visits scheduled for a couple weeks but PT is coming again. Supposed to be here tomorrow some time. DH doesn't listen to me when I tell him to exercise so I'm bringing in the bossy PT folks, lol.

Maybe take a ride in one of the Ducks
Gonna pass on the ducks, lol. I've been on the ducks on field trips with students. Great fun if you've never been to Galveston - but if you've been as many times as I have - it's torture! LOL! But, I will admit that I am a terrible tourist. Hard-headed and stubborn and don't generally want to do the touristy type things. Our trip to the island will likely be a quick trip.

Too wet to do much here anyway. We had 4.5 inches of rain yesterday to go with the 1.5 inches earlier in the week. Everything is saturated. Garden is all in raised beds but still looks really rough.

I'm going to need to start hauling round bales soon. I'm down to 3 and they're last years hay. Still good on the inside, but less edible hay because of the loss on the outside. I didn't have enough pallets so some bales sat on the ground and soaked up a lot of moisture - and ants. I hate fire ants!

Haven't been out to the pond since earlier in the week. Fish, if they haven't washed away, are probably wondering why I haven't been out there to feed 'em. Guess I'm a fair-weather fish farmer.

Almost 9a and I still haven't been outside. Goats probably think I'm a lousy goat farmer too. Sometimes they're right. I didn't get a lot of sleep last night. Spent hours monitoring DH's blood sugar while he sleeps like a baby. Must be nice, lol. It'll be torture when I finally get outside. Temp is already over 90 and humidity is insane.

Oh yay - weather forecast says 70% chance of more wet stuff this afternoon. It's that time of year...
