DH and I are still on mostly a twice a day workout schedule. They're not hard routines, but they do get us moving. Going to add more balance work for DH. His balance sucks! I can see that there's at least some improvement because he got tripped up yesterday evening and after a bit of wobbling and hopping around he righted himself! That's big for him!

Weight is fluctuating for both of us. Frustrating - but whatcha gonna do? A pound down and a half pound up seems to be the norm. Not going to worry about it too much- just keeping up the healthier eating and increased activity level.

There is a "system" in the gulf. Too early to get freaked out - but ya never know with this crazy weather. No matter what this one does it's a good kick in the rear to get busy. Unfortunately, there's more rain predicted for the hill country where all the flooding was. They're under a flash flood warning again. :(

I guess I was too slow distributing feed yesterday evening because the Boer buck (aka - Big Guy) popped over the fence. Jumped a stock panel like it was nothing! Not even a doe in heat anywhere near him. Thankfully, he just ended up in the other buck (Hank's) pen - not out with the rest of the herd. Guess it's time for me to think about breeding season arrangements. I'm going to have to put him in another area that has taller fences. They're not much taller, but the stock panels in that area are topped with a 2x6. These boers were never taught to lead so it's not fun to move them. They've gotten a little better since I've had them, but they're not totally cooperative. Moving them is an exercise in patience. They don't fight but they have a tendency to plant their feet and say "NO!" Not exactly excited about it, but it is what it is.

I get further and further behind every day. Working out twice a day with DH is taking up some time. Also, I've become a total heat wimp. I'm hiding inside most of the day. I can't get much done in only a couple hours of outside time. It starts to cool off about 6:30pm and dark around 8:30. Mornings are always miserable even if the temps are down because the humidity is ridiculous. You walk outside and immediately feel like you're trying to breathe underwater. Absolutely miserable... I swear I'm not gonna complain this much in winter, lol. I'll try to hold my complaints until the temps go below 20! I have learned to appreciate that in winter I can always put on more clothes to be comfortable. It doesn't work that way in summer! Even naked would still be miserable... So glad that's not socially acceptable, lol!!

Been busy today. Did two workouts with DH this morning. One of 'em I got to work out and the other one I got to hold him up while he worked on his sucky balance. It's important though so we keep plugging away at it. He's supposed to be getting 6 weeks of PT. They came for the first 3 weeks and last week we were supposed to have an evaluation by a supervisor. Never heard a peep from them all week. Expected to hear Sunday evening the schedule for this week - but nope. I think he's doing just as good with our workouts. Youtube has some amazing therapists and tons of routines.

I canned some chicken this morning and while that was happening, I made a quick batch of ricotta.

I've got some serious fence work that needs done and I seriously don't want to do it! I'll just keep shifting goats from pen to pen until we get past this heat. I'm getting pretty good at it, lol. Goats don't love it but ...too bad, so sad. I'm the head honcho around here and goats must comply, lol. (as if)

a bit more rain there yesterday? :)

we had some too yesterday afternoon and then one or two more rounds through the evening which is what all the gardens needed. i'm not sure about the third round as i was falling asleep right when it started to get some thunder and heard some raindrops but i didn't stay awake long enough to know how much.

the weather forecast for today says the current temperature (at 4:15am) is around 72F with today's high being 73F and a chance of rain before 8am.
i'm so ready to go back to sleep but i'm not sure i'll be able to do that...

It's been all around us but nothing here for a couple days. I expect that to totally change, probably starting this afternoon/evening. There's a little system skirting along the coast from Florida. It's supposed to impact Louisiana much more than us, but we'll likely get significant rain out of it. I'll try to get some mowing done today. I swear the grass grows faster the more I mow it, lol.

last load of clothes got a 2nd rinse

I've got a load that I'm going to hang out as soon as I get my butt offa this couch, lol. Hope it'll dry before showers hit.

Lost a silkie chick a couple of nights ago. Not a tiny chick, but nowhere near full-grown. Two dogs in the yard for protection and still lost a bird. It seems we have a hungry owl. I had been letting the silkies free-range in the backyard - depending on the dogs to keep varmints away. Seems they can't do much about a 'swoop and grab' in the dark. They're he// on birds during daylight hours but I guess they can't guard against what they can't see.

We haven't heard from the Physical Therapy group for almost two weeks. Don't know what's up with them. They were supposed to send a supervisor out last week for an assessment. I know they're shorthanded and extremely busy but I'm really annoyed that they haven't communicated with us.

Shopped big yesterday. I'm calling it my storm prep shopping trip. Mostly just restocking some things that we used up while the kiddos were here. I stay well-stocked, but when you feed 8 people a couple of meals a day for a week the pantry took a hit, lol. I love having them here though. It's definitely worth the all the cooking!

Speaking of storm prep - I'll check the oil in the generator today and then start it up and let it run for a while. Gotta keep it in top condition. I have a back-up generator for the back-up generator but it's not as powerful. I like the big boy!

Sun's up so time to get outside.
