Getting acclimated to country

I love my Great Pyrenees! We have our place fenced in 2"x4" non climb horse wire to help keep varmits out. Our GP's keep our sheep and chickens safe.

That's what my Uncle doesn't want- keep the chickens locked up all day either in the coop or in a run.
The outdoor cats are pretty good at keeping the small varmints to a minimum, it's just the bigger flying ones that are a pain in the you know what part of the body.

Yesterday got a new push mower and I LOVE IT!!!! So easy to start and use. It's a Toro, got it from the Home Depot. Well, I didn't get it- my Uncle got it!!
So far we haven't got the chicken run out back up yet but got 80-85% of the yard mowed and a couple other small projects done.

I wish I could have made a video of my EE hen (Boo) following my Uncle around whenever he went outside. I bet if she wasn't so small still she would've jumped onto the John Deere tractor with him. I had to be outside in this heat just to distract her from him so now my shoulders are sun brunt- applied SPF 55 to any bare skin and I still got burnt. I even tried to use aloe but nope that didn't help.

I guess I'm too fair skinned to enjoy the outdoors during the day.

I buy aloe vera gel with lidocaine in the sun product section. It works for bug bites too. I wear a light short sleeved t-shirt and a long sleeved denim shirt over it when in the sun. Yes it is hot, but no more so than wearing a tank top. The sweat on the shirt act like a cooler.

Oh ouch, that looks painful! You be careful out there in the sun and cover up. I burnt like that a few times and I'm paying for it now. Best do as baymule suggested and wear shirts to protect yourself AND sunblock under, the shirts only help so much.

I'm pale and burn easily too. I stay indoors midday, and have to ease into sun exposure very slowly in spring. I haven't burned *yet* this year. Yet. :gig
