Start the seeds in the house. I start seeds indoors all winter.

My house is in the 40s to 50s

In my experience most seeds aren't happy at those temps.

I couldn't do it. I'd like to be able to say I could - but I couldn't.

mid-50s i've done here some times. you acclimate and wear more clothes. no biggie.

This year I grew a cucumber where you had to do nothing... every flower grows a baby cucumber.

Did you buy seeds from someone or know the name? My family love cukes and I make so many jars of pickles each year. Always looking for new types

All summer long I go out and shake my pepper and tomato plants.

Some years I have grown cucumbers and squashes that needed the male flower taken and used to fertilize the female ones. That is problematic since I wouldn't always have a male flower ready when I had female ones in need.

This year I grew a cucumber where you had to do nothing... every flower grows a baby cucumber.
