Hope everyone had a great Mother's Day. Mine was fun but got off to a rough start. I went to bed Saturday night with pain in my stomach, up high just under my rib cage. I'm supposed to take Prevacid, but it works so darn well that I forget a lot. I know, not good. Anyway, the pain just wouldn't go away. I got up and took some Mylanta which usually takes care of any gas pains fairly quickly. Not this time. I lay awake until 2:00 when I finally woke up DH. I didn't have a fever but the pain was so intense I was getting really worried. Long story short we spent from 3:00 to 6:30 in the ER determining that it wasn't my gall bladder or anything else. I need to take the darn Prevacid even if I'm not suffering. After some IV fluids and a couple of meds for the pain and nausea I was sent out into a beautiful, clear morning, wide awake despite having no sleep at all. We went ahead with our plans to attend the dog show where our puppy's breeder was showing one of her other dogs. We tailgated with her family and other show people and hung out until about 12:30. Unfortunately I couldn't eat much of anything, being restricted to clear fluids. :/ Then we realized how close we were to Old Sturbridge Village so we popped over there for a couple of hours. It was crowded because of Mother's Day. They were not charging admission for mothers. We had fun anyway and came home exhausted. It was really windy so we couldn't do much outside. We had a nice quiet dinner of chicken soup at home. My parents came over for dessert. It didn't quite go as planned but I had a good day!
4 days till PUPPY!!!

Hen, any idea what is causing the acid reflux?

I ask that odd question because I used to have it really bad ... until I found out I was Celiac. When my daughters gallbladder had to be removed at 22 years old they did LOTS of testing on her and determined that she was totally intolerant of gluten. Her allergy was so severe it actually destroyed her gallbladder! (Now that she has stopped eating it she even has to carry an epi-pen and ends up in the ER if she eats gluten!) Since Celiac Sprue is a genetic disorder I decided to give up gluten for a couple of weeks - just to see ... well I too am Celiac! After giving up the gluten, I now have NO MORE acid reflux and a lot of my breathing (asthma) problems and sinus problems seem to have gotten better as well!

Celiac can be tested for by a simple blood test - if your acid reflux is as bad as it seems (mine was too), it would be worth ruling Celiac out.

It definitely something to discuss with my doctor soon. I've been fine ever since I left but I am aware that it could happen again. I do have to wonder if I have a gluten allergy or something like that. It's always worse when my weight is up, which it is now. I don't know if it's heriditary or not, but my father has it as well. He says he got it from me because I was diagnosed first.

My mom had acid reflux very badly. She actually died from esophageal cancer which some say can be a result of the esophagus being continually irritated. Also my maternal grandma had bleeding ulcers almost her whole life. I am almost certain they were also Celiac - but things like that were not heard of back then.

Boring except to me. I finally got to the eye doctor for an updated glasses prescription. I broke my old ones, which I hated anyway, so I haven't been wearing them. I don't NEED them; they just make life a little easier. Well, I can survive without them for driving, but the truth is I can't read small print without them anymore. I should have the new ones by this time next week. She also confirmed I didn't do any damage to my eye when I got hit with the twig/branch. Now I'm just trying to get over the whole dilation thing. Not fond of that part.

Waiting for the puppy pics!

Gosh, I hope that your are able to see the pup with your injured eye.
I scratched my cornea years ago when I bent down to weed and didn't see a dead stalk sticking up. It healed quickly but hindered my sight for several days. Ow!

He's HERE!!!! I'm working on pictures right now. I filled my memory card so I had to download everything. I'll get them up in a minute or two! :D

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH Photobucket is doing maintenance. Sorry folks, I'll get pictures up just as soon as I can.

Indy is settling in well. The two older dogs accepted him immediately after a few sniffs. My son wasn't paying attention when we told him not to let the chickens and ducks out. Indy met them rather unexpectedly but didn't pay much attention to them at all. He had his lunch, went out and did his business, met his grandparents (my parents). We've seen glimpses of the cats but they're hanging out in the basement at this point. We'll see how he sleeps. DH is taking my son to a BD party at Chuck E Cheese (I'm going to owe him for this). I'm going to have some one on one bonding time. Hopefully he'll play 'til he's tired and sleep all night.

I wish the action pictures weren't so blurry. I hate my camera for that reason. I want to upgrade soon.
