Thanks, it is tough not knowing AND now not being able to contact anybody. I think that the administrative offices should be back open tomorrow. I need to figure out where my check is going to go tomorrow and I'd really like to have it before the long weekend.

Dinner is done and eaten. DH is cleaning up. My family is spread around the living room and there's nowhere for me to sit so I ran away to the computer room!
The meal came out great. My mom bought a fresh free range turkey at a local farm. 20+ lbs! I cooked it here. I timed it absolutely perfectly for the first time ever. The digital thermometer went off as my brother pulled in the driveway. By the time my parents got here and everyone had a drink in their hand the bird had rested and was ready for carving. It was delicious and will be for some time to come! I made a pumpkin roulade with mascarpone cheese filling with chunks of crystallized ginger. Oh, yum! Everything was actually very good.
Small vent: my brother showed up empty handed. He is 41, not married. His girl friend decided to stay home because she's recovering from gall bladder removal two weeks ago. She made him come anyway. He was supposed to bring a green salad. He walked in with nothing and I asked about it. He said he didn't have time. Didn't call ahead to let me know. grrrrr. I know it's not about the money, but my mom paid over $50 for the turkey and I spent about that on everything else. We bought beer and wine. He brought nothing. He's got the money. He may have been short on time. But you'd think he'd have known that yesterday and picked up a bottle of wine or something. Anything. Sheeeesh! I'm sending him home with a plate of food to bring to his GF when he visits her later. I'm emailing her to let her know I'm sending it so she actually gets it. I can just see him stashing it in his fridge! Ok, not so small a rant after all. And in the scheme of things not a big deal at all. Just inconsiderate. AND he complained that I didn't have a traditional pumpkin pie. I suggested next year he bring one.

Uh huh. My mother came looking for me. I went back out for a while. I've been on my feet all day. There's nothing but a dining chair for me to sit in. It hurts. I want my couch. :(

He left not long after that. I sent him with a huge plate of food for his girl friend and she called later to thank me so at least I know he gave it to her instead of stashing it in his own fridge! She did not mention the quail eggs so he did keep those for himself.

Today we are having our tag sale. We put a sign up at the base of the Walmart driveway! We've had a dozen or so people and I probably have $25 more than I did this morning. It's slow but we expected that. It's raining now but should pass soon according to the Weather Channel. We'll see. We're doing it again tomorrow. It's cold and yucky but the coffee pot is going and we've got lots of left overs for lunch.

Good luck on the sale,

Glad your Holiday meal was so tasty! It sounds so yummy, and perfect timing too, thats tough!

The only traditional part I made, and actually Frankie did it, was the Turkey, and he deep fried it! No pumpkin pie here either!! No one brought anything!! Oh, but no one but my adult son came over! He He!

Hope your weather clears and your sale is profitable!
Enjoy!
Tina

Thanks, we did okay. The sun came out and it was still pretty chilly. We made a little money. We'll see how tomorrow goes!
Personally, I like small Thanksgiving dinners without too many people. The ones my husband's aunt used to do for 20 people were totally overwhelming!

Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. I have not had mine yet - all that food sounds good. We ate leftovers yesterday. So even without the salad your was better than mine. LOL

Well, I still do not have a supervisor at work but I've got a list of 28 kids that I will be seeing for speech services eventually. I am able at least to work on a schedule, get materials gathered and review their files etc. I'm enjoying just being there even thought the middle school kids in a big school like this one seem so loud and disrespectful to me. Not all of them but of course the loud obnoxious ones stand out.
Home life is calm now that the tag sale is over. I listed some of the things that didn't sell on Freecycle. I had people respond to every item but only one ever got picked up or delivered. The woman who is coming for the aquariums and accessories, as well as the hamster cage, was late getting home from work yesterday and didn't show up here. At least she contacted me and we made other arrangements. Two other people contacted me about other items. I responded to set up a pick time but never heard back. Now I need to sift through the emails I saved from the second person to respond. I love recycling and keeping things out of the dump but it can be inconvenient sometimes.
We are all healthy here while everyone around seems to be fighting a cold.
Next week both my husband and I get paid so I will start the Christmas shopping. It shouldn't be too bad. I've gotten a few things for my son and we're making things for almost everyone else. My father will get Pete Seeger's new CD. I don't think he knows about it or he would have bought it for himself. I still have no clue what to get my husband. I never do. Maybe he'd like a pair of silkie hens?
