Back from calling hours for our friend. We waited in line for about an hour and a half before we got in the door. The most amazing thing to me is that I knew people in line through the band, other bands, church, three different jobs, friends of friends, DS's Montessori school. This guy knew everybody!

DS had his second horse show this morning, same place as last time. He took a first, second and third and reserve champion. all fairly meaningless because I heard the judge and secretary talking about making sure that they split the ribbons between the three kids in the class and made sure that the same kid didn't get the champion ribbon as last show, meaning DS. The important thing was that all the kids did their best and had fun. This was DS's last show on lead line. His instructor wants him in walk/trot. She had hoped next week, but I had to tell her our budget will allow one show a month. She understood and just wants to make sure he rides at a different show next time.
Back to school tomorrow. 25 more days. DS is coughing like crazy today after being out in the rain this morning. We'll see what tomorrow brings...

I can't imagine working WITH them. Yech. lol.

i thought so and so did the other mom from our farm whose daughter rode in that class. I kind of see where they're coming from, but then again, they need to know what they did well, and what they need to improve on to move on. Not going to dwell on it though.

In some places, all the kids get an equal ribbon. The idea is to get the kids interested, and having fun. It's not unusual for the kids at that age to not really understand what the different colors mean. I've heard of kids getting upset cuz Johnny got the red, and they like red better than blue, so they start to cry cuz they didn't get the red, but got the blue. And then there's the kids that cry cuz they didn't get a ribbon at all So, if everyone under a certain age gets a ribbon, and it's the same color, there's (hopefully) no hurt feelings, and all the kids are happy.

Sorry to hear about your friend Hen.

My dd 8yo has been rinding here and there at her Aunties ranch. Last time out she got to go on a 2 hour trail ride. On lead of course. All I heard about for hours was how Bo(the old horse) trotted when he went up hill.
