I could hold your milk jars hostage.... you're not getting them back unless you take the ducklings...... :gig

If you have mom in an area where the other critters can't bother her, that is the biggest part. The next thing it to make sure you have dishes shallow enough for the babies to eat and drink out of.

Here you go!

Still just the two. I've got a saucer with chick starter (unmedicated) because that's what I've got but I think I need to add brewer's yeast for niacin? I've got a chick waterer in there for now. If I have a shallow dish of water they can get in and out of will that work? Or is it too soon for them to be in water? They are still under Mama Edna's wing but one keeps popping out and exploring. It hasn't eaten or drank in front of me yet so I don't know if the set up is working or not. It's temporary anyway. Will make improvements tomorrow!

Don 't give medicated feed to a duck or it will kill it. You probably know that already, but just checking.

Yeah, I meant chick food because that's what I've got and unmedicated because I know that's what it's supposed to be for ducks.

Definitely! Can't see if there's anyone new this morning. The first two are getting more active and the water in the chick waterer was messy so it looks like they're eating and drinking. I suppose I ought to put a tall bucket in there for Edna to drink from. She's been coming off the nest about every third morning to eat and drink like a maniac. But now I have them behind a blockade to keep the other birds out.
I will be cleaning out the old duck condo and forcing the other 6 to move into it. I'm sick of the mess in the barn. Of course yesterday's rain means I have to walk through 3 inches of muck to even get to the barn regardless of ducks. :barnie

It's not too soon for them to be exposed to water as long as it's easy for them to get out of the dish. They'll splash around for a bit and then run under momma when they get cold.

Way too cute, though!
