HI WIP How to install a wood stove

Finally getting ready to set the through roof chimney for my Wife's momma bear wood stove, next weekend.

I'm wondering how close I can set the pipe from the wall? Wall will have fire rated drywall. Wood stove is rear discharge (see first post) and will be piped with single wall pipe to the chimney then triple wall pipe through the attic and roof, enclosed in the Dura Vent prefab box.

Here the prefab Chimney.

Not sure exactly. We just put one in and in our manufacturer's book it was 9 inches from our side load and ours is a rear exhaust too but put in a corner.

The flooring had to be 52 inches from wall to front and the stove 16 inches in from the front.

And outside I would have to measure for exact measurements bit I want to say it is 9 or 12.

Two Brothers will be over Saturday morning to help me install the Duravent prefab Chimney. I'm going straight through the ceiling, through the attic and out the roof. This is the kit I ordered it's single wall pipe from the stove to the box and from the box to the chimney cap will be triple wall pipe. Here's some other kits from Duravent incase you need something different.

Note the kit does not contain any pipe, so pipe is a separate purchase. If you want to go with stainless steel pipe. I highly suggest to go panning for gold and find a few gold nuggets, you'll need them to pay for the pipe. My pipe is black single wall and galvanized triple wall because im not skilled enough at finding gold nuggets.

I've hung a few sheets of 5/8 Fire Board sheet rock. So it says "light weight" yeah right! Each sheet weights 67 lbs. And since this is Fire Board it's brittle as I don't know what. It is without a doubt the most challenging "dry wall" I have ever hung. But it's better than old school days were you needed a double layer of 5/8 regular drywall to meet code. So I'm not complaining, just sweating a lot hanging it.

Next the Duravent box that came with the kit is about 14 1/2 x 14 1/2 that's so nice because it will slip right in-between my ceiling joists that are framed in on 16" centers. Here's where I'll cut the rough 14 1/2 x 14 1/2 opening and frame it in, in the ceiling. The single wall pipe will be about 19" 1/2 from the wall. Which exceeds the 18" minimum. That's nice 🙂

Finally after searching around duckduckgo images I found this image that appears to be a pretty good pictorial of different types of wood stove installations and clearances. That I thought might be of interest.

"Lite-Weight" my chicken's butt! I need a nap now. I bought 10 sheets, this wall takes 6. I'm taking 4 back and finishing the other 3 walls in 1/2". Atleast I'm building muscle mass.

As a side note I wanted to add. Spend a little extra and get the adjustable electrical gang boxes, gaskets and oversized un-breakable covers for your recepicals, you'll be glad you did.

There's a philips screw that adjusts the box in or out, which is very nice.

Here I turned the screw clockwise to adjust the box in.

Next install the gasket.

Then the oversized unbreakable cover. No more leaky air passing through the recepiticals. Sweet 👍

Very nice tutorial 👍 I be the first to admit, writing a decent tutorial is way above my pay grade.

WIP = Work In Progress or should I say... the hat my wife bought me long ago, says it all.
