I don't drink near enough, but I try to remember to drink some each day (other than laced with coffee and whole milk!)

I only occasionally drink straight water...but I chug iced tea, and that's nearly water.
No sugar, just a drop of stevia to keep the boring away!

On a lazy do-nothing day, I drink at least around 45-50 oz, if I am busy and very active, usually 80-100 oz. Some days I will have a glass of raw goat milk, but usually it is water.

Want to hear something completely scary and petrifying that I am ashamed to admit?

When I was younger from ages 8-14, I never drank any water. Any liquid I drank would be soda or fruit juice. I would have at least two cans of soda a day, sometimes more. I also ate unhealthy, a lot of sweets and school lunch food. Eating was my 'escape' so to speak. The most I remember weighing during that time, was when I was 13-14 maybe? And I was 183! Sick, isn't it? I feel the need to puke just thinking about it. ugh.

A couple years ago I decided that I needed to do SOMETHING or else I'd NEVER get married. LOL. So I stopped drinking pop completely and drinking water instead. Eventually I lost twenty pounds simply because of that decision.

Meanwhile, my older brother who is two years older than me, was always very slim and almost anorexic looking, even though his diet was very similar. To this day he weighs 140 and has never weighed more (fast metabolism I suppose). He is in college now, so his diet is mostly store-bought junk food and he still drinks pop.

Now, I see my past large weight as a blessing. Because if I was not overweight, I would not have been ridiculed and teased everyday by classmates - which ultimately made me change. If I was not overweight, I still might be eating that exact same way and slowly killing off my organs, which might be my brother's demise.

After finding out about the NT book and some of the wonderfully knowledgeable people on here, I am now, at age 17, exactly 135 pounds and for the first time in my life I weigh less than my OLDER brother. It feels good! :D

So now you all know something about me that you didn't before!

I am shy and normally wouldn't post such a picture, but I am proud, so here is my proof;

Whooo! Ok, sorry. I'm done.

Sorry for the hijack, just scratch it all up to how important drinking water is, if you want. :p

I'll tell you a story about drinking tea...and lots of it. My sis used to be a big tea drinker and kept a huge tankard of tea with her at all times at work. She drank lots of tea each day because she just didn't have good water and didn't like town water at work.

She started having muscle twitching in various places and it would last a long time with each episode. Then she finally started having heart palpatations. They put her on a Holter monitor to monitor her heart rhythms and did a few diagnostics. Came to find out she was very dehydrated!

The tea had acted like a diuretic and had been flushing out all her electrolytes. She stopped drinking the tea and the problems subsided.

Conclusion here is that water mixed with anything else is no longer just water but has chemically bound to the new ingredient. Coffee, tea, and pop are all diuretics if they contain caffeine.

Just plain water is important for proper cellular function, so if you can find a good, tastey water source you should probably start drinking it more.

Here's a little thingy my aunt sent me long ago~it doesn't have anything to do with tea but it has some weird facts about Coke...it's kind of long but it has some good info on water:

#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
(Likely applies to half the world population.)

#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak
that it is mistaken for hunger.

#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.

#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs
for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of
Washington study.

#5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of
water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain
for up to 80% of sufferers.

#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term
memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on
the computer screen or on a ! printed page.

#8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of
colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast
cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop
bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water
you should drink every day?

COKE

#1. In many states the highway patrol carries
two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from
the highway after a car accident.

#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke
and it will be gone in two days.

#3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the
toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour,
then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes
stains from vitreous china.

#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers:
Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds
Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour
a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble
away the corrosion.

#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola
to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

#7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into
the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake.
Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the
drippings to mix
with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

#8... To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke
into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run
through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen
grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your
windshield.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

#1. the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid.
It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric
acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major
contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.

#2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the
commercial trucks must use a hazardous Material place
cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

#3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean
engines of the trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water?

or Coke?

Cougar-bait!

BB, I am very impressed! And...for what it's worth...with your hair, skin and bone structure, modeling would be a great career choice for you. Have you thought of that? Get paid to look good? I could live with that..... :)
