I'm hearing worrying predictions re Florence heading for you guys later this week. Who is likely to be affected and what are you all doing to prepare?

We are in no danger from Florence, but we have a little system on top of us now that is purely a rain maker and another un-named system that might develop in the next couple of days AND Isaac that may come into the Gulf of Mexico next week. None of these systems look to be major wind-makers (yet) but will bring more unwanted and unneeded rain to the area....

Florence however, is a massive storm that is going to have a very heavy impact wherever it lands...unless by some miracle it veers off and spares the eastern coast. :fl

Spotted on FB... Hurricane Tip:
Put waters and drinks in washer and fill with ice. Drinks stayed cold for days! And water just runs out.

My daughter, son in law and two grand kids live on the coast of northern South Carolina and are under mandatory evacuation order. They left this morning and they will be here in southern IL this evening.

So glad they are getting out and have a place to go!

My adult (kids) always have a place to go, no invitations needed :) Bonus... I get granddaughter and grandson time. So I'm looking at Florence as a positive, at least from my prespective. However, for those that are negativly impacted, I hope it's not bad.

South of me. @Mini Horses how close are you to the coast?

As a crow flies....50 miles inland, 12 miles above NC state line.

I won't have any coastal flood, wind/water wash out. Farm is high, so excess runs off & away but, low couple miles away and roads often get overrun/closed at least for a while. Just a lot of smaller river runs all around which creates a good amount of flooding as water seeps to them. Hate the thought of the power outages that are almost unavoidable in the country. Our co-op is fantastic at fast repair and keeping as much clear as they can. :fl Praying for best. It's just wait and worry now.

I feel pretty good about no massive/extreme damage. May get wind issues, may not. That is what makes for worse issues for me -- winds. I'm well insured! :D
