What is MPS? Just curious.

Sorry -- company I ordered from My Patriot Supply. they were having a clearance, so many seeds at 29-59 cents a pkg. even with shipping, it still was only 50-80 per pkg. Many sold out, so some limited selections.

I did have an all veggies meal tonight. :D I will definitely eat what I grow -- & share with goats, chickens...no pigs right now but, they loved all of them.

i definitely am a seed hoarder. after about 10yrs of growing many different kinds of beans i had to go through my collection and get rid of some of them. does anyone really need several hundred different kinds of brown beans? i did pare my collection down from what it was to a more reasonable amount:

after:

note that some of those tiny containers may contain a mix of seeds...

i did not finish going through all of them, but at least progress was made. i will try another round this winter as i have about 60 - 100 new ones. eek! :)

LMAO!!! I thought I was the only one! Well, now I feel right at home.
This year, I did buy some but mainly they were seed potatoes, cos I didnt have any Cliff Kidneys left and wanted to try another purple one that sounded tasty. I even planted them...in tubs this year so I have room for other things.

I found an old heirloom pea seed I forgot I have and they are even starting to sprout. These are dwarf peas so I can use the trellises for Luffas, Rock melons, cucumbers, gherkins, bitter melon, Yard long beans......
Actually, I have been hoarding 'trellises' too. I got another 5 full sheets of concrete re-inforcing mesh a couple years ago cos it was on a deleted item sale. I need to get the angle grinder out so I can cut them up to fit the beds and along the fences.

I usually have to purchase seed every year because I can never settle on one variety of anything and they cross-pollinate. I always find new varieties I want to try too. I live not that far down the road from Baker Creek, and when I go to their spring and fall festivals I always end up spending way more than I intend in their seed store! I have been sitting here this evening thumbing through all of the awesome unusual and exotic plants in the One Green World catalog. I think I am going to try out yacón, Autumn olive, pink blueberries, and sea berries... I'm going to try to stop at that! Lol

I don't have a stockpile of seeds this year, just a few packets scattered around the mess taking up half my kitchen table :hide As for gardening... I'm going to grow pumpkins again and hopefully have more joy this year, along with some tomatoes (ditto). And more potatoes than I grew this year! Seed-wise I asked my brother to bring me some gem squash seeds from S.A. when he comes for a visit in the new year. I'm planning on "planting" some chicken seeds in spring, so between that and finally getting the shed sorted out I don't think I'm going to have much time and energy for much else.

Hard to let a good bucket full of poo just sit, isn't it? Things are frozen solid here. When time and a warm day coincide, I'm pulling the poosicles out of the coop, and dumping them into a new compost bin, then adding more leaves to the coop bedding from my carefully collected and hoarded pile. In years past, I've worked on DLM in the coop, but since everything freezes solid, I'm trying this approach this year.

BAY -- I didn't even hear you come in my house!! So where did you place the boxes of seed? Surely this was MY stash  Boxes, buckets, bags, hundreds of packets!

Then, I re-read. NOPE, not mine because you didn't mention the tobacco, chicory, millets or mangel beets! Nope, your own collection....similar to mine! You know, we may just need to swap a few things because I have enough turnips to plant 20 acres :th. OK -- they were "almost" free on discount and my goats & chickens love them. It was for THEM that I bought to seed out in pastures. Does that help?

My pigs were also good gardeners! Some of my best butternut was from their pen. Their tomato starts were outstanding, too. Do I need to buy more pigs :idunno Saw some baby AGHs for $25 each on CL, close by. No, I'm thinking more along the line of "use the tractor to till". It's raining here this morning -- what's new???????? I'm so over it. Another week at home and more rain. It's warm. If I plant, it WILL get cold!! :( What to do??

I have composted stuff everywhere. More in production every day. Land waiting on me AND goats waiting to eat it all no matter how defiant I may be.:hu The chickens are helping to dethatch (little scratch in the garden area helps) as I've opened the gate to that place. I keep checking the calendar to be sure the dates are what they are. I want to PLANT!!! Brought home another 200 cups to start seed yesterday (coffee demo leftovers)….:celebrateI'm ready.
