I am curious: Who here doesn't use Wal-mart? Why??

OK, we definitely have super-centers. Huge garden section, Subway, tires, bank, optometrist. Thanks for the clarification.

I thought that some of the comments about the quality of Walmart's produce being better was interesting. In our area, most people find that it is just the opposite, so maybe that is a regional thing.
Do you remember the gold old days when K-Mart was called K-mapart? The quality at Walmart is far better than Kmart used to be. Now, over the years the quality has improved at K-mart too, but in the 70's, they were known for cheap garbage.

Are you giving Martha Stewart credit for her line of higher quality products at Kmart?

Never paid much attention to the Martha Stewart stuff. I just remember the cheap Kmart shoes that used to fall apart after about a week when I was a kid.

We have 2 K-marts left around here. One by my Moms is small old store and sad, just sad but has the best deals at the end of holiday times.

the other is a new K-mart that has some good stuff in it. don't go too often cause too far away for that trip.

Wonder if K-mart will die soon?

Didn't Sears buy it? Ours closed recently; after Walmart opened. They were seriously limping along for several years, tho.

Sears bought it?? I have no idea??

heck our Sears seems to be suffering here. They have $45 Dora and other wonderful coats. No one buys them but when that sale hits, wow, those clothes fly out the door. I got Nicole's winter coat for $10. Now that is a savings. I don't know how they stay open honestly???

Oh I know....all the money Tony spends on Craftsmen tools...LOL-LOL

Oops-got it backwards. Kmart bought Sears, they merged.

Welcome to the group Martian chick!
Thank you farmerlor! Actually, I've been on BYC for a few years, though I don't post much and I've been here since this site opened. I had a problem with my posting id not working and then I sort of lurked, popping in occasionally to read everyone else's posts. I decided to break my silence today!

How is a super center different from a regular? They don't call ours super but I suspect they may be.
:lau

Sorry, just sounded funny! Your question is as good as mine1
Yeh, go ahead and have a laugh at me and my important WM question!
We don't shop at Walmart often, simply because they are all so far away. However, we've gone to a plain 'Walmart' in a city about an hour away quite a few times before. Last year when we went to visit it, it was simply gone! Vanished! No where to be found! I think we had been there two months earlier.

They did leave a sign with directions to a new 'Super Walmart' a couple blocks away though; about twice as large and green instead of blue. (I've seen some blue super Walmarts)

Who knows? I must add though; I hate when people call it Wallie-World, reminds me of that lame-o amusement park on National Lampoons.

On the other hand, I love going on 'People of Walmart' http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/
simply because I'm cold-hearted and often need silly things to make me laugh.
