I retired about 6 years ago after a lifetime of processing Social Security claims.
I have gardened, ridden and trained horses, grafted trees, and keep goats now with my two retired horses.
Give me a cordless drill and I can make build almost anything.
I'm scared of electricity but can fix plumbing pretty well.
My highest level of expertise is removal of manure- which I have done pretty much daily for 40 years.

I hold a Journeyman card in Machining, which I mastered and moved into metal fabrication.

I am a Certified Master Craftsman working with the metal copper, I just say I am a Coppersmith. I own both a copper fabrication shop as well as a fully tooled cnc plasma business.

I cook, can, garden, basic electrical, home repair and replacement stuff, hunt, fish, build structures, and lots of homestead skills.

I have been able to use bartering a few times using my trade for exchange.

Currently I am trying to learn how to raise a gun dog from a puppy.

I work full time in a doctor's office as a medical assistant. That involves getting vital signs, interviewing the patients for medical history and other information, doing shots, ekg's, spirograms, etc., and general triage. We use computers extensively in the practice, instead of paper charts, which I guess puts us kind of ahead of the curve.

My other job is dog groomer. Used to be my full time job until I realized that 70 hour work weeks and no holidays is no way to live. So now I have just a few clients and have control over my grooming schedule.

20 years ago I was a computer programmer. That was B.C. (before child).

I have an MBA in management, for whatever that's worth.

Oh boy where do I start. I grew up farming, beef, hogs, chickens.. Then I got out of school and was in medical equipment for many years. I repaired, designed, and eventually sold Mammography x-ray systems. Then general digital imaging equipment for a few years before I dropped "out" of sociatal norms....

Lets see know I am ah...lets see..
A traditional full scribe log home builder. (Somewhere between apprentice and journeyman.) I peel the logs with a draw knife just like 100+ years ago.) We use a Gin pole not a crane.

A pretty decent Timberframer.

A slow but accurate carpenter.

A logger, I do small local jobs.(Under 100 cord)

A Sawyer. I own a small sawmill.

An eBay entrupenure. I sell couple lines of wood related products on ebay.

A budding chicken farmer.

A organic gardening fanatic.

Considering making a go at some form of organic agriculture..

A stay at home father some times too!

A good cook..

A good husband (At least I hope my wife thinks that...)

A decent hunter, fisherman and gather of wild edibles.

Well read, and willing to tackle just about anything!

Yep, I guess I am living one form of the self sufficent lifestyle

I used to be an Enviromental Aggregate Relocation Specialist but now I also relocate Asphaltic Concrete. Okay, so I'm a dump truck driver! I have a class A CDL and drive a 7 axle dump truck, which is basically a straight truck with a 25ton payload (it's a ten wheeler with 3 drop (pusher) axles & a strong arm). I am a Trucking Diva!
Before this, I was an account executive/regional manager for what was then the third largest wholesale distributer of it's kind in the U.S. I was horrible at it, and I hated pantyhose. Before that, I worked as a Veterinary Technician. I liked that alot. Animals Rock!
I've gotten pretty good at sourdough (I have kept my starter alive for almost a year now) although I wouldn't try to claim expert status. I also cook, can, sew, quilt, crochet, weave (I have a Navajo style rug loom as well as a ridgid heddle loom, and hopefully soon, I will be spinning my own fiber. My gardening skills are getting better as I get more used to living in the desert. This year will be better
DH is also a truck driver (guess how we met ) but he went over the road so we wouldn't lose our homestead. He used to be a dealership mechanic - and is very good with, well, mechanical things. And plumbing. And outdoor cooking - but not really clean up, so if anyone needs him to cook anything, keep that in mind.

I never thought about it...
Hmmm, I do have a friend who does it. He builds birch bark canoes the traditional native way. He has held classes in the past, recently he has been taking just one apprentice per summer/canoe.

I like the idea of this thread. Sharing skills and talents.. I just can not see how to make an actual class work in cyberspace let alone an apprenticeship.

For know I am happy to share opinions, and tips on things that I have some experience with. That is why I joined this forum, to learn new skills from others and share what I know.
