Take heart you are not alone! I planned a natural home birth, but it certainly did not go down like that. Let's just say that I was only about halfway into what turned out to be 50 + hours of active labor when I gave in to some pain relief. Well, in my case I needed IV fluids and when they offered the pain relief they didn't have to convince me. :P We also ended in C-section . . . something I had not even considered as an option . . . because after almost 2 hrs of pushing, the dr. said baby's head was bumping against a bone in my pelvis.

While I had hoped to birth low-tech, I was really glad that there were professionals there when I needed them. :)
