Is it really a money saver?

My family (ok, my parents) are looking in to solar power! WE want to know if it will actually save money. It will cost 8,000$ to do our house. Is therte anybody else who is thinking about it or has it?

I'm interested in this as well.

I've heard that if you're planning on remainig in your home for a long time, then it'll be worth it in the long run on energy savings. It is quite expensive from the get go. There are alot of do it yourself type projects you can find if you search. I think you can make some changes and use less $$ by starting out w/ small projects. I wish my DH were a handyman type! :/

I have looked at the bp website on solar they are quite good and give estimates.
