Yesterday, I finally dismantled the temporary coop in the back half of the run. There were plenty of pine shaving in it that I just piled up. Afterwards I dump some DE into the pine shavings. Within an hour, the chickens had scratched the pine shavings all over...DE all over them as they did; they also decided to sit and relax in the DE pine shavings. I also put a generous amount in each nesting box and over the pine shavings inside the coop. I completed forgot about the bag of pulverized lime I bought; I'll spread that today.

Ewww! Snow? Last night was the first night since October that we didn't turn the heat on! Our snow is finally melting!

I'm praying we'll stay warm now… I ran out of heating oil yesterday evening. No other heat available except a small fan heater (and a horrible electric "fire" that smells and makes more noise than give off heat, so I refuse to use it)
