When this discussion comes up, folks always talk about being able to hunt. But, isn't EVERYONE else going to be in those woods the first few weeks? Not a deer, rabbit, squirrel, raccoon, possum, crow or buzzard to be found within a very short time, I would think.

Band together with neighbors, there is strength in numbers. Hunker down, don't draw attention to yourselves. Maybe that would work, maybe not.

There is a member on TEG that was a child in WW2. He and his family lived in the woods for 2 years, hiding from the German soldiers. He doesn't talk much about it, but every now and then a sentence or two slips out. He was hiding in a wood pile and saw soldiers haul a farmer and his wife outside and shoot them both. They survived starvation, snow and cold and running for their lives.

So you would need to be able to run, leaving "things" behind. Grab your family, what you could carry and hide.

My hope would be that Texas would form her own country again but it would be won by blood.

I personally moved across country to live in a place where i knew i wouldnt have to worry about fighting this type of thing alone. A good gun loving and gun rights state. Safety in numbers.
As a veteran i also agree that the military will not follow any illegal orders.
Civil war is a bigger concern in my mind

Protect your right to own fire arms. People don't realize that gun ownership provides protection from invasion from outside the country, as well as within. When Japan was considering a land invasion of USA, they decided against it b/c the citizens were too well armed, or so the story goes. Use your voting rights to protect your gun rights.

Giving up gun ownership places every American one step closer to the reality of dictatorship, marshal law, and outside invasion. Also, who is the petty criminal going to target? The home that is protected, or the home where the home owner is a sitting target?

I personally try to stay out of places where guns aren't welcome as well. That is where mass shootings happen....

Me too, elwood; but the list of places that don't allow guns is growing. And now there's this move by several chains that don't allow open carry-- just a step to the right and they will not allow guns at all in their stores.

I have accepted the fact of my mortality, after all, I'm in my 60's in a world where the average lifespan is 76. It was a lot harder to look at my children and grandchildren and accept theirs as well. All I can do is pray that if they do have to die, it will be quick.

Yeah very sad. It is hard for me to understand how people don't see that lawfully carried guns protect them as well as the person carrying in the store with them.

Luckily i live in Kentucky and concealed carry is legal without a permit. No list with your name on it.

How does one prepare for martial law? Like if some guy declared a national emergency and then decided to make himself supreme dictator.

I remember that guy, he was a ruthless dictator who looted the country. His wife had thousands of pairs of designer shoes, while people were destitute and hungry. Imelda Marcos is a term meaning excessive selfishness and thievery.

That is why we have the second amendment, so the people can rise up and overthrow a dictator government. That is why the Damocrats are bent on taking away our guns, so they can have absolute power and control. Corrupt, power mad liars who want to take over the country with socialism, followed by a total take over.
