Oh, ya'll are killing me.....I see GF in my future. My grandmother just tested for celiacs and my dad gets really sick if he has gluten too. Probably something I need to get off of.
Dude....Seriously?
Can I just smack you? I mean I love you to pieces, but step away from the bread!
Honestly, you need to get away from wheat pronto. I can be hard if you love it dearly, but it may very well be making you feel like crap and even be the cause of your depression/health issues.
You can buy substitutes, I now buy GF waffles for the kids and I keep GF bread in the freezer for the occasional grilled cheese sammy....GF noodle are a must have around here, GF pancake mix. Hubby and I try not to eat that stuff, but I do have kids and they don't need to watch their waistlines!
Plan out a weeks menu....grilled/crock pot/dutch oven/roasted meats, a side of hot veg and a salad (dressed with EVOO & vinegar (no commercial dressing lot have gluten hidden under "Natural Flavorings") occasional baked potatoes
Lunches can be salads, yogurt & fruit, rice cakes (some have gluten) with natural peanut butter, cheese and cold cut plate (some cold cuts have gluten).
Breakfast can be eggs & bacon, omelets, GF pancakes or waffles, yogurt, oatmeal must be labeled GF.
My biggest piece of advice is do not go out and buy all kinds of specialty GF foods.....just cut out the bread and pasta and minimize packaged food for now. Once you determine what you are really missing, like pasta perhaps then go buy some and try it. Many of us can recommend good brands of certain items, but in general GF commercial food is very hit and miss, a lot of it sucks.
Now hop to it!
