My DH decided that he had a problem w/gluten, and insisted that I buy all GF products. I spent hours in the store reading labels, buying the stuff, etc. And, he ate it for a bit, then decided that that wasn't his problem, and never finished eating the rest of the stuff. I STILL have some unopened boxes of stuff. I'm not sure of what I have, nor how old it is, but if anyone wants it, LMK.

Don't stop eating gluten before you are tested. They now have a simple blood test to see if you are celiac, but you must be currently eating gluten for the test to work.

After I went off gluten - same deal - like getting food poisoning! People wonder how I went from being an "everything looks like a sandwich" person to completely gluten free. When you really ARE celiac it is easy... after the first puke fest.

On the good side. I really truly DO feel a ton better!! No more acid reflux daily. More energy and just generally better health. If I had to do it over .. I would be gluten free. :)
I did not get tested. Did not have the money to do so.
I tested myself by going gluten free for two weeks, then purposfully eating some gluten.
Sicker then a dog for 3 days as a result.
I did not get tested either, and I am in Canada where it's all paid for. I went low carb, and bread products are carbs- so I stopped them. Until one day when I was hungry and had no low carb options in the house, so I had chicken noodle soup with bread. I was on the toilet for 4 days straight. Previously, I had tried to doctor for my bowel problems and nothing was ever discovered. I discovered it on my own, accidentally. Once going low carb (aka-gluten free) My ongoing bowel problems cleared up, as did all my other things. The only thing I can complain about now is sinus problems. But I'm not complaining-- I will find an answer to it too.

My middle child was diagnosed after needing to have her gall bladder removed at 22. It was completely destroyed by eating the gluten. Now she is so sensitive she must carry an epi-pen! Amazing how she was eating something everyday that is in reality SO TOXIC to her. I was not blood tested personally either. I too did the elimination diet. I just recommend the testing for extra documentation. That way in some situations (school?, hospital stays?) you would have medical evidence to back up any diet needs. BTW Even my asthma and sinus problems are better! ;)

Oh, ya'll are killing me.....I see GF in my future. My grandmother just tested for celiacs and my dad gets really sick if he has gluten too. Probably something I need to get off of.
Dude....Seriously? :th

Can I just smack you? I mean I love you to pieces, but step away from the bread!

Honestly, you need to get away from wheat pronto. I can be hard if you love it dearly, but it may very well be making you feel like crap and even be the cause of your depression/health issues.

You can buy substitutes, I now buy GF waffles for the kids and I keep GF bread in the freezer for the occasional grilled cheese sammy....GF noodle are a must have around here, GF pancake mix. Hubby and I try not to eat that stuff, but I do have kids and they don't need to watch their waistlines!

Plan out a weeks menu....grilled/crock pot/dutch oven/roasted meats, a side of hot veg and a salad (dressed with EVOO & vinegar (no commercial dressing lot have gluten hidden under "Natural Flavorings") occasional baked potatoes

Lunches can be salads, yogurt & fruit, rice cakes (some have gluten) with natural peanut butter, cheese and cold cut plate (some cold cuts have gluten).

Breakfast can be eggs & bacon, omelets, GF pancakes or waffles, yogurt, oatmeal must be labeled GF.

My biggest piece of advice is do not go out and buy all kinds of specialty GF foods.....just cut out the bread and pasta and minimize packaged food for now. Once you determine what you are really missing, like pasta perhaps then go buy some and try it. Many of us can recommend good brands of certain items, but in general GF commercial food is very hit and miss, a lot of it sucks.

Now hop to it!

Okay....can I just cry now. Doctors office called and all my tests are "within normal limits". So now what?

Hubby slept on the couch last night cause he was trying to rub on me and I kept cringing cause I'm dry as a bone and it hurts. Seriously uncomfortable. I don't even want him to touch my breasts. That has been an issue ever since breastfeeding my kids. I just cannot stand for anybody to touch my breasts.

The washing machine is broken, probably clogged from my DD's pillow pet that got the head caught in it when I washed it and now theres stuffing floating in the new load I just put in...it won't drain.

I just want to go back to bed and cry. I can't take this anymore. It seems like every other day DH talks about leaving cause of all of this. He is seriously resentful of the fact that everyone keeps telling him to "be patient". It has been like this for the last years. I was happy to get my period on my honeymoon cause then we didn't have to have sex.

What is WRONG with me??? :hit

:hugs First of all, go get yourself a jar of extra virgin raw coconut oil.
Use it everywhere needed ;) I can guarentee both of you will love that stuff.

And do please read Matt Stones Ebook and website while you go gluten free. Its not all about weight loss. He really gets what it takes to rebalance the bodys hormones naturally. It heals the adrenals, which usually are very low functioning due to food allergies, wieght issues, etc.
I have been doing his RRARF for 2 weeks now, and my basal body temp has gone from 97.2 and even lower all the way up to 98.2 pre O. I am weaning myself off the thyroid meds at the same time.
For a yummy start to gluten free, just get yourself some brown rice flour, and make pancakes for breakfast.
Use the standard recipe, but use rice flour, and use 6 eggs rather then two.
Also, mix the rice flour and milk and let it set overnight, adding the rest in the morning.
No need to crazy GF commercial ingredients.

Forgot to mention....within normal limits is a very broad brush stroak, hence the reason I rec. reading Matts stuff.

By the way, what is your normal basal body temp?

I don't know what my normal basal temp is. No one has ever asked me that. I know my blood pressure is usually on the low side. My dad's body temp is usually on the low side....like if his temp is 99 he has a fever.

I'm just so over it. It all started when I started having major pain in my neck and shoulders in 2000. The doctors told me I had fibromyalgia but then I go to the specialist and he says I have a mild case.

no meds work. I got on the cymbalta 2 yrs ago and that helped a lot but the last 6 months or so I have just really been tired. I fall asleep all over the place. I fell asleep in the car twice yesterday and Chad just looked at me like I was an alien lifeform for falling asleep in the car.

I guess a major diet shakeup is in order. I've been getting puffy around the middle lately and while at 5'9", 160 lbs is not bad, I would like to get back down to 145.

I have noticed that when I drink kombucha I don't crave food as much. I get really tired in the middle of the day and then can't get to sleep until like 11 or 12 at night, even if I don't take a nap with the kids.

Can I make my own brown rice flour?

:( I'm sorry. Dang I wish there was something I could say, a solution, something, anything. I just don't know. Sigh, I can't imagine how tired you must be from all this. Hang in there ok? You sound like you need a real hug. These :hugs just don't do justice.

Edit: because I'm an idiot and don't proof read.
