FarmerChick--You are right again. I definitely could have protested. I'm so glad so many around the world did. They didn't seem to influence Bush, but I'd have to guess that he would sit up and pay attention better if his future second-term voters were protesting as much as the rest of the world.
BTW, I'd guess that this is the crux of the problem in getting hard work done in American politics: We are always 2 years away from one election cycle or another. Maybe the president has 4, but somebody in Congress is always 2 years away.
