I may also put my donkey in with the sheep and goats in the gully- it is wooded. And he LOVES to be in the woods!

I may start looking for a good livestock dog. My catahoulas are great but I want one that will stay in with the goats and sheep and not lay on the porch half the time! I am thinking great pyr.

Well... I goat my billy goat! It was longer trip than I thought. 3 hr drive instead of 2. but he is beautiful! He has long ears like his mom. And his dad...WOW! He is a boar goat and he isn't much smaller than my daughters pony! That thing was huge! His mama is the color I want- black with tan points. So maybe we will get babies that color. Now we are working on a goat and sheep barn and fence. There are getting to be too many to fit in the small pen now. Plus with the female sheep coming (3 of them). Dh wasn't sure about the sheep but he has been talking to a lot of people and found out what the lambs were selling for this year. Yup now sheep are ok! And I am getting a heck of a deal on the ones I am getting. So he thinks if we can come up with the extra money maybe get a couple extra.

We had puppies born wed night. They are beagle X english bulldog. And this time she had some spotted ones. Everyone asked last time if we had spotted ones. I ended up having to find a new home for the shar-pei puppies, they were killing machenes! And I could have worked harder and broke them of it but I don't have the time to do it right and the losses were adding up! 6 ducklings, 14 chicks, and they were chasing the goats and biteing them. I would like to find a livestock guard dog though.

I just hatched out a bunch of turken chicks. Everone thinks they are ugly- I like them. I have done pretty good the last few days with chick sales. Sold 10 pullets and 2 roos yesterday for 40.00 (I gave them the roos).

Got 1/2 of the yard mowed, dried in the sun, and raked and fed to the goats as hay. Saves on the few squares we have found.

Well the day started out pretty good but went down hill fast.

My oldest daughters dogs got loose and went on a killing spree. Do the dogs are no more. These dogs have been the source of many killings. And I just couldn't take it anymore!

Why is it when these days happen I am home alone?

Urgh. So sorry to hear that. Sorry you were alone, too - but glad that also meant you didn't run into opposition over your solution to the dogs until it was completely over. Hope your day gets better.

Todays losses were: 2 ducklings, 3 chicks from the pullet pen!, and my daughters 2 fluffy kittens :'( and all but the kittens were penned. I am thanking god that I didn't leave my little bottle baby goat outside! Something told me to let him in. I also saw where they tried to get into the goat pen!

Yah, I knew this good streek was going a bit long.

But on the good side the dh and dd can't stop me now. I was nice and let her leave them here as long as she provided dog food and came out to walk them and stuff. Well she mostly provided their dog food. But didn't spend much time with them. But this also wasn't their first killing spree.

You have more patience than me. I'd have already axed the dogs. Mine killed one that flew in his kennel and he about got it then too. But that was his first and last, he don't bother them even when he is out.

yes, well the pit bulls are my daughhter and hubbys thing. Don't get me wrong- I love my pitties too. (I origanaly left the breed out of my post on purpose). We have NEVER had problems like this with any other dog.but they got the male and when we went to see him I didn't want him. He was 4 mos old and kept in a kennel with no human contact. But he was a champaine color and as beautiful as the day is long. But as my grandma would say- pritty is as pritty does! It took 2 weeks for him to trust us enuff to put a collar on him. We crate train to housebreak and when I would let him out in the morning he would be so excited and he couldn't controle himself and he would bite. The he started attacking other dogs and killing animals. That was when I banished him to the kennel. And the female did what ever he did.

We have a young female and she is as mellow and sweet as the day is long! She will let a cat lay on her back. And she chaced 1 chicken. After she learned that made mom very mad she hasn't done it again.
