LovinLife- Happy New Year's all!

I've been told the best knife for the job is a razor knife. If it gets dull, you just snap the end off.

Good to know. I'll add razors to my shopping list.

You can get a razor knife in Dollar Tree. It comes w/extra "blades". I'm not sure how many. I just bought one yesterday. Now all I need to do is figure out what to use for a killing cone, or make one, and I can process my roos.

I've heard of people using 1 gallon milk jugs? Let me know what you come up with.
They're not really long enough. I was going to get a traffic cone in the store yesterday, but I'd have to do some modifying to it. It's not wide enough at the top.

Went out to feed the Muscovies yesterday and they were out of the cage/house hangin' by the pond. I'm thinking my dogs pushed the dog crate away from the house. The ducks seem to be doing good just hangin' by the pond. I wanted to keep them caged for a little bit longer. At least wanted to clip their wings before letting them out. Oh well at least they are staying close. I also got DH to move the pig fence yesterday so I can use the side she was rootin' and pooin' in to start my garden. We kept one fence panel up for a vine trellis.

I've got to go sow my seeds now, then take the kids to the library, and get a new mailbox post since I hit mine with my side mirror and torn the dang mailbox off...didn't get mail yesterday, but oh well at least I didn't get any bills.

Oh man chick days start today at the local feed store.

We used a baby gate on the front of our duck house to get them used to it. We put food and water in there for a couple of days and just let them hang out. They were fine after that but I have indian runners so I don't have to worry about them flying off :P

These ducks want nothing to do with the house. The food bowl inside the house was empty but I'm wondering if a possum or raccoon ate it. The scovies just stay at one side of the pond and ignore me when I go to the pond and try to throw them treats. I don't know if I should be feeding them or will they find there own food? The pond has got plenty of minnows in it! I think they just take to the water to roost at night.

Yesterday a guinea flew into the dog pen. :somad It looked dead with feathers everywhere. Then I went to get some shoes on and went back out there to get the guinea out and it got up and started running around. I opened the kennel gate and the guinea ran out and seems to be fine. So that's good....stupid guineas. :smack

Finally, I got my seeds started in the peat pots on Saturday. :celebrate

Yellow Squash, Zuccinnni, Peas, Bush Beans and Pole Beans, Soybeans, Cucumbers, Lima beans, Swiss Chard, and ground cherries (free when I ordered from Jung's). I hope I get something this year! :fl

I made a killing cone out of an old banner. I guess any thick piece of vinyl would work. I cut 2 triangles out of the banner and joined them with duct tape. Worked great.
