LovinLife- Happy New Year's all!

I'm late to your journal but I'm happy to see a fellow Virginian here! We are seriously outnumbered by OHIO

Anyway....I just want to say good luck! I'm 35 with soon to be 6 and 4 yr olds so I know how things are with trying to start a farm life in the midst of all the craziness!

Just wanted to say hi! :frow

Jealous....it is in the 30s here and windy as all get out up here on my hillside. Feels like the house is gonna blow away....I SO have to get a wind turbine.

It is crazy how different the weather is from one side of this state to the other isn't it?

It will even the odds when during July-August it's stifling hot here and you're getting some cool hillside breezes! It is sooooo flat here that when we got all that snow this winter we didn't even have a hill to sled down. Flat, flat farm land.

Even with this nice weather, I'm not sure what I'm going to do today. I'm thinking I might go out back and tear the railings off my little back deck. I have a back deck that is maybe 6'X6'....it's pitiful! We would love to build a nice LARGE deck back there but haven't saved up the money yet. With the small deck, the railing block my view of the yard so I'm gonna knock them off. Boy won't DH be surprised when he gets home.

Yeah, husbands love it when you take the first steps in home repair projects when they are gone... :lau

I generally get the "what the bloody H-E-!! were you thinking doing that!?!?!?" look...to which I respond with the coy downward turn of the head and "well, you said you wanted to fix it, I was just trying to help you....." *bats eyelashes*

Yeah, they love that stuff. :lau That is the basis of a good marriage right there! Any time you do a home improvement project and DON'T kill each other it's a good thing!

Yup, one of these days Hubby is going to come home to my kitchen cabinets ripped out.

Didn't get around to doing demo work....walked outside and decided it's still a little too cold for my blood. So I got chicken fever real bad today. I was poking around BYC and looking at all the pics of D'uccles and Silkies and got the itch. I took a quick look on CL and there it was!...an ad for Buff Silkies!! I just sent them an email, I'm so excited!

Going to look at a bunch of Silkies tonight! :D
DH is going too though so I can't spend much money. :/

Sitting down to do taxes right now.....fun, fun.

Congrats on the silkies! I'm sure you can manage to sneek one or two more in there....just tell him they'll be lonely if left there all alone without their friends!

I ended up get 2 silkie chicks on Wend night. When DH saw the silkie adults he said they were really cute :love DS picked one out and I picked one out. I picked a gray/splash one and he picked a ???. It looks like a dark buff but we will see. The breeder said it was a 'dark buff' but it kinda looks like a mutt to me. She had everything very organized and all the silkies in separate cages. Well she had one roo to two hens and the same breeds together. Didn't look like there was much possibility of cross breeding but we'll see how the chick looks when it grows up. I will post pics tomorrow.

Today was sunny and 50 so I got out and did some yard work. I tore the railings off the deck today. :D DH has no idea. He had to run to OH due to a family illness. He's gonna love it! I'll post pics tomorrow.

I also cleaned up some stuff around the property that was really bugging me. My dad had an old boat windshield on some sheet metal in the yard. I removed the windows from the windshield and seprated the metal frame, then uncovered the sheetmetal and left them to dry from all the leaves and dirt that had accumulated. It looks much better with that pile cleaned up and now I have some glass panes and sheet metal for future use.

Aside from that I just cut a couple little trees down and picked up limbs and MORE bits of concrete here and there. Gosh it sounds like my place is a mess :/ It's really not a mess around here.....well not anymore!
