lupinfarm's journal: a pretty little wilderness

:hugs

Sorry about your crazy oil delivery problems. Are they the only game in town or can you find another company to deliver? We had the same problem the first year we lived here - delivery came so late that you couldn't tell where the farm drive had been plowed. Around here, you can usually get another company to deliver, if you can give them cash. But in our area, they won't deliver less than 150 gallons (567.75 litres) at one time.

good gracious lupin
that must be COLD---bundle up with tons of sweaters etc!

you are having the worst winter luck....but at least next year you will have your wood burning stove and that will save you alot of headache I am sure.....when cold, just throw another log in the fire!!!!

spring will be here soon....hang on! That is why I love the south where I live. I do not have the hassle of snow. As pretty as it is, I think it makes living so hard!

stay warm and hope your tank gets full soon!!!and all is well!!

oh --start a fire outside and melt snow to water for livestock in a pinch.
and for yourself if needed...ya never know. just boil good at least it is water!!!

Oh my goodness, what a mess Lupin! I don't know about you guys but we aren't far from you and we are getting some very very extreme cold coming for the next three or four days! We got the snow here today as well, you're not kidding when you say snow, we just got at least a foot of it.
There must be something you can do to get oil and get the pump thawed.

On a good note, you are doing an awesome job with the duck house...you are talented!

:hugs Can you get some gas cans and go get some oil yourself from the oil company and put it in the tank?

-27! WITHOUT the windchill EEK!

It's already -18 out and insanely windy.

Oh OH OH

update :)

I finally found a snow plow guy, came tonight and cleared the driveway but we realize now that not a chance will a tandem truck get up this driveway even in the peak of summer weather.

Mum is calling Ultramar and seeing if we can get them to bring a small truck at the latest thursday (snow coming saturday).

Also, there are more fuel companies BUT we would have to go through inspection, and credit check, all over again which takes up to three days.

Tomorrow we're going to get some diesel to put in the tank, Ultramar said it was okay.

Thank goodness you can at least use diesel. You have to be freezing.
I am with FC on this one. As much as I hate the 105 degree summer days our winters are mild and in the summer I can turn on the water hose to cool off.
You guys are getting pounded this winter. Where is all that global warming when you need it?

Glad to hear the renewed hope in your post!! I hope you get your oil delivered soon!

Well... after a very loud discussion with Ultramar, she has cancelled with them and called Woods Fuel which by luck happens to be the old supplier to the old old old owners meaning we don't need an inspection BUT we still need a credit check and won't have oil until Friday... maybe.

Though, we nearly did get hit by a superior propane truck on the way up Huff today and then when I got home realized the propane had been topped up so that's pretty awesome.

Glad to hear things are bette today! I was worried about you...it is a deep freeze across Ontario today, we're still hovering at -26
