Ughh I've lost 2 chicks in the past few days. DH saw a hawk in our yard yesterday. Just haven't had time to get a covered run built but our chickens' free ranging days are about over.
 
Oh no! Stoopid hawks! We have hawks here but I've never had a problem with 'em getting chicks. But, we had an owl some years back that would pluck 'em off of the fences if they roosted outside.
 
Gave away a hen today. Don't remember if I mentioned that, sheesh. My brain! Our friend the pig farmer lost all but one of his hens to a fox (he only had 4) so we gave him a friend. Yes! Downsizing! Lol

Going to cut up the front shoulders tonight. We'll get some roasts and ground pork. Tomorrow night is the midsection, pork chops, ribs and bacon.

It is HOT out today (for us NH folks). Really only 85 but opressively humid. Big storms supposed to hit tonight and it'll be 70's during the day and down to the 40's at night the rest of the week and weekend. SO looking forward to that!!
 
Yay on getting parts of the piggy cut up! We must be having a cold front! It's only 90 degrees outside with a heat index of 101! Woo hoo - I need to break out a sweater, lol!
 
I don't know how you survive!!

Scratch the shoulders. Can't reach them. Gonna get the midsections done first. Forgot we put the shoulders in the back and since I can't lift anything, DH physically cannot get them out by himself lol. SO, will get bacon and ribs in the freezer if nothing else. Chops... Maybe. May wait to use friend's band saw tomorrow if DH gets all excited for bone-in chops (I couldn't care less).
