I used to make a Kahlua liqueur version too but sadly that recipe is gone now. Too many moves over the years. I'm tempted to make up some Baileys or Kahlua. It really perks up a cup of coffee, lol.

I've made Kahlua in the past and the recipe I used was very similar, if not exactly, like this:

Ingredients:

1. 4 cups water.
2. 1 1/2 cups instant coffee crystals.
3. 4 1/2 cups 100 proof vodka.
4. 8 cups sugar.
5. 2 vanilla beans.

Directions

1. Bring water and sugar to a boil.
2. Add to coffee crystals just enough water to dissolve them.
3. Add coffee to water and sugar and boil for 5 minutes, being careful not to let it boil over.
4. Cool completely, then add vanilla and vodka.
5. Mix well.

Yum!

Well, I'm enjoying my own version of Baileys! I do like Kahlua and sometimes a White Russian....Now, the Bailey's mix with heavier coffee could taste very much like a Russian. Yeah, the whiskey isn't same as vodka but, depends on the whiskey.

Has our superstore thread become a "mock" happy hour recipe swap? Sometimes we just need a break!!! Nice grilled steak sounds good, too............party on!
