Ohiofarmgirl'sAdventuresinTheGoodLand-where ya been? whatcha been doin

yikes!!!

so goat people......

we successfully moved Nibbles and Dahlia down to the new goat yard.... but when i went to check on them... Nibbles had about a dozen or more flies on her back!?!?!?

we dont have a fly problem in the hen yard.... what gives? what am i supposed to do, if anything???

i think she went over by the pigs and thats where the flies found her.

YIKES!

goat flies!?!?

i dunno.. they arent horseflies... i've seen those on the pigs... but they are ON her and she's trying to get them off....

GAH!

:-(

Maybe a little spritz or wipe of ACV? I made some catnip/lemon balm vinegar spray that I keep near the milking stand for those mosquito-y nights but it takes a couple or three weeks for the herbs to infuse. I think I read that plain ACV would work for a bit.

Hey, Dawn works with squash bugs......maybe...... :P

We've had flies all season. They really bug the goats. Humid days are much worse than dry days :/ I don't have a solution.

Have you tried those milk jug traps?

The vanilla scented pine tree air fresheners really took care of the files in the coop, that's for sure. The goats probably wouldn't be down with one hanging around their necks, huh. :hu I wiped the dogs down with homemade vanilla, but it didn't seem to do anything. If I'm going to leave them outside, I do the ACV wipedown.

ok today i'm taking Nibbles down there with a fruity mix of vanilla and lemonbalm....with a marigold princess crown on her head. i hope it works.

;-)

:yuckyuck

I had to put a fan in the milk room to keep Aliana from swatting at the flies while I was milking her....could you send Nicholas out there with a palm frond to fan them all day???
