Hen - i was totally sweating it. i finally confessed that we could only contain her puppy bouncing at 50% ...so i gave myself a "C-". the tech said we did a great job so i was really relieved!

After being accused of NOT keeping Indy quiet enough by not one but two covering vets, I know the feeling!! In the end it was their screw up not mine that resulted in a second surgery and extended hospital stay....

Did you get hit with any of that heavy rain yesterday? We didn't get a drop.

Since you are in planting mode, I have a question - is it too late for us to plant beets and radishes?
I once again failed at greens of every kind. I think my sub-suburban micro climate makes it impossible to grow them.

Edit - never mind, I just saw your blog. Radishes, yes.

hey baby!

we got pounded late last nite - but the really bad stuff missed us by a hair. we totally lucked out. we could even hear the storm - it just wasnt over us. of course, tho, now its totally soggy out.

ugh!

and nope! plant up them beats and radishes. i planted some yesterday. the radishes will be up in less than 28 days. the only problem i've seen is that in the summer you need to get them while they are little or they get a little woody and weird.

beets should be just fine too.

We could use a little rain here! I had to water the veg garden! I haven't even tilled my main one yet....can't imagine why....

Cut any cheese lately, ofg? You've inspired me with your gouda, I may try that one again first. It was too hot out when I tried that recipe last summer and I hope to have success while it is still kinda cool. Hoping for cheesemaking time on Saturday! Pull my finger!

I was just reading a website talking about how when you make cheese you should progress from the farmer cheese that I'm making and carefully work up to harder projects. Do you think that is true? They suggested Neufeuctel SP? next and then a chevre and then a motzarella. Gosh I don't know how to spell cheese words.

I'm getting ready to make cheese right now and I'm trying to find a recipe that calls for rennet and milk, do any of your cheese people have one? I realize I should have gotten some yogurt yesterday because I found a recipe that just would have taken a little yogurt.
